\r\nMaybe the county would have enough applicants their Work Session,\r\nMonday morning at 8:30 AM,\r\nif they advertised for applicants for open board seats,\r\nsuch as on the Development Authority of Lowndes County,\r\nAnd if they posted the application sheets for the applicants they did get,\r\nsuch as for the Lowndes County Library Board,\r\nwe’d have some idea of who they are.\r\nThey could even say whether the millage is going up or down.\r\n

\r\nAccording to the\r\n\r\nagenda sheet<\/a>\r\nfor the appointment to the\r\nLowndes County Library Board<\/a>,\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThere is a vacant seat on the Lowndes County Library Board. The\r\nBoard of Trustees of the South Georgia Regional Library System\r\nrespectfully requests the appointment of Mr. Gene Toffolo to fill the\r\nvacant seat.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nThey don’t say who applicant Gene Toffolo is.\r\nAccording to the South Georgia Regional Library<\/a>\r\nhe’s a 2016 Friends of the Library Board member:\r\n

The county’s agenda and agenda sheet for the Lowndes County Library Board\r\ndon’t say whose seat expired or maybe somebody resigned.\r\nThe county’s\r\n\r\nweb page for this board<\/a>\r\nis no more helpful, listing these members and expirations,\r\nnone of which expires in 2017:\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nAccording to the\r\nagenda sheet<\/a> for\r\nthe appointments to the\r\nDevelopment Authority of Lowndes County<\/a>,\r\nthey’ve got seven expirations, of which only five want to be reappointed, leaving two vacant seats:\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe appointments for Jerome Tucker, Jeff Reames, Brooks Akins, Gary\r\nCannon, Crawford Powell, Clay Griner, and Jerome Waters to the\r\nLowndes County Development Authority have expired, leaving seven\r\nvacant seats. Mr. Powell, Mrs Cannon, Mr. Akins, Mr. Tucker, and Mr.\r\nGriner all seek reappointment.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nSo apparently Jeff Reames and Jerome Waters don’t want to be reappointed. Would it have taken too much ink to say that?\r\n

\r\nNote that this DALC is not<\/em> the same as the Valdosta-Lowndes Development Authority (VLDA), otherwise known as the Valdosta-Lowndes County Industrial Authority (VLCIA), which gets 1 mil of tax money each year.\r\n

\r\nAbout the\r\nAdoption of Millage<\/a>,\r\nthe\r\nagenda sheet<\/a> says:\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe Board of Commissioners is required to set the county-wide\r\nmillage for 2017. A public hearing was held prior to this adoption\r\nas required. The county-wide millage should be set at 11.224 mills\r\nwith the County receiving 8.974 mills, the industrial Authority\r\nreceiving 1.00 mill and the Parks and Recreation Authority receiving\r\n1.25 mills.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nBy “was held prior” they mean at 5PM Tuesday 22 August 2017<\/a> just before the 5:30 PM Regular Session\r\nin which they will vote on the millage.\r\n

\r\nThey don’t say whether the millage is going up or down.\r\nIt’s actually the same as last year<\/a>.\r\n
