\nWhy is Plant Hatch Unit 1 running at well below capacity?\n\n<\/a>\nSaturday 19 Jan 2013 that nuclear plant was\n\nat 100%, according to the NRC,<\/a>\nyet Sunday it was down to 45%, then 40% Monday and 64% today.\nWhat's going on at Hatch 1?\nAnd what happened to nuclear supposedly being 24\/7?\n<\/p>\n

\nThere's no\n\nevent report<\/a>\nabout this from the NRC;\nthe last item the NRC has on Hatch 1 seems to be\nfrom 2003.<\/a>\nSouthern Company provides\n\nno information on this event.<\/a>\nAnother source (Platts, 4 January 2013)\nsays Hatch 2 (and Vogtle 2) are to refuel in the first half of this year,\namong\n\nFifty-six US nuclear units to shut for refueling in 2013<\/a>.\nBut Hatch 1 is not on that list,\nand a similar Hatch 1 brownout happened 5 and 6 January:\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nDo people no longer need to know about those things?\nOr does it take NRC a month to get around to adding those notes?\n<\/p>\n

\nOnly\n125 miles from here,<\/a>\nwhy was\n\nFarley 1 at 93% on 19 January 2013?<\/a>\nMeanwhile, 160 miles from here,\nCrystal River 3 (the only nuclear reactor at Crystal River, FL)\nremains at 0%,\n\nas it has since 2009.<\/a>\n200 miles from here,\nVogtle 1 and 2 have remained at 100% for the past 30 days:\ncongratulations!\nHowever, Vogtle Units 3 and 4\n\nremain at 0% as construction delays stretch out and costs go up.<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\nSomebody explain to me again how big centralized baseload power plants,\nespecially nuclear, are supposed to be good because they're up 24\/7?\n<\/p>\n
