\n<\/a>\nFor a year I’ve been asking for a list of jobs attracted by the\nAuthority. We welcome your marketing expertise so we’ll know\nthe Authority’s successes!\n

\nWe welcome your communications expertise to inform the community\naffected by the process of bringing new jobs. VLCIA could publish\nits agendas, minutes, and videos of its meetings, events, and\nnew jobs on its web pages, and facebook, maybe even twitter.\n

\nWe welcome your stewardship of the Authority’s $3 million\/year in taxes.\nMaybe some\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n

\nof the 577 acres of mostly unused land VLCIA bought with $15\nmillion in bonds could be sold, since many of the lots are too small to\ntrade to incoming industries.\n

\nPerhaps you would agree that marketing includes knowing\nwhat to reject, such as a private prison boondoggle\nthat won’t save the taxpayers money and will not attract\nthe knowledge-based jobs we want here.\n

\nYou could help lead the region in the fastest growing industry\nin the world. With two solar PV manufacturers in Georgia plus\nsouth Georgia sun, rooftop solar can bring jobs from delivery,\nto installation, to architects, to professors to study renewable\nenergy throughout the region.\n

\nThe community wants to help you with market research!\nFor example, the biomass protesters have compiled a mass of current\nresearch that goes far beyond state and federal regulations;\ninformation that could lend the Authority some real authority.\n

\nThe Chamber of Commerce could help hold real forums with actual\npro and con discussion among people of differing opinions.\nHow about a forum on the private prison?\nOr on what kinds of jobs we want around here, anyway?\n

\nThe Authority has been good at making agreements with businesses.\nYou can help it get better at fulfilling this charter agreement with\nits own people:\n

\n“This act, being for the purpose of developing and promoting the\npublic good and the welfare of the County of Lowndes and the City\nof Valdosta and their inhabitants, shall be liberally construed to\neffect the purposes hereof.”\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n\n<\/a>\nWe welcome your stewardship beyond jobs, to clean air and water,\nto create jobs for people here now and for generations to come.\n

\nYou have a great opportunity to bring vision that can attract\njobs we can all be proud of.\n
