{"id":18248,"date":"2017-03-27T09:18:22","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T13:18:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=18248"},"modified":"2017-03-27T09:18:22","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T13:18:22","slug":"regional-t-splost-agenda-2017-02-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2017\/03\/regional-t-splost-agenda-2017-02-28.html","title":{"rendered":"Regional T-SPLOST agenda 2017-02-28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\nEven though Lowndes County voted 2 to 1\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/08\/t-splost-lost.html\">\r\nagainst T-SPLOST in 2012<\/a>,\r\nand Southern Georgia Region 11 voted it down by\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/results.enr.clarityelections.com\/GA\/40378\/95366\/en\/md_data.html?cid=92300&#038;a=Atkinson#Atkinson\">\r\n38,731 no votes (58%) to 28,217 Yes (42%) votes<\/a>, a few counties in the region voted for it\r\n(Clinch, Atkinson, Coffee, Bacon, and Irwin).\r\nAlso, Lowndes County had\r\nlots of transportation items ready to trot in case it passed.\r\nSo it shouldn&#8217;t be surprising that five years later local governments\r\nin the region are considering rolling their own.\r\nIt&#8217;s on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2017\/03\/trash-disposal-renewals-regional-t-splost-another-lift-station-pump-dasher-streets-lcc-2017-03-27.html\">this morning&#8217;s Lowndes County Commission agenda<\/a> for voting Tuesday evening.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%\">\r\n<a title=\"No, except Clinch, Atkinson, Coffee, Bacon, and Irwin\" href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?attachment_id=18254\">\r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none\" id=\"18256\" width=\"600\" height=\"673\" alt=\"No, except Clinch, Atkinson, Coffee, Bacon, and Irwin\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/a0cb002e4330be9c62a1efa0786070d8.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAfter hearing of it in the videos Gretchen took of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2017\/02\/videos-annual-planning-meeting-day-2-lcc-2017-02-17.html#TSPLOST-county-or-region-can-issue-one-Mike-Fletcher-gives-information\">the Lowndes County Planning Session Day 2 back in February<\/a>,\r\nI asked the South Georgia Regional Commission and got this email from Corey Hull:<!--more-->\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nIn response to your phone call earlier today to Amy in our office, I\r\nhave attached the agenda for the meeting tomorrow in Waycross. This\r\nis not a public meeting and was not advertised as such, however it\r\nis open to the public. This meeting will be an informational meeting\r\nfor officials throughout the region on the regional and\r\nsingle-county TSPLOST options.
