\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nWhy do they bother having Work Sessions at all, if they’re not going\r\nto discuss anything?\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter,\r\n\r\nwho at the recent planning session said<\/a>,\r\n“Lowndes County is as transparent as we could possibly be,”\r\nwas absent.\r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall, who argued at the planning session\r\nfor moving the Work Session to a time when citizens are not working,\r\nalso was not at the Work Session as usual, I hear because he works\r\nduring the day.\r\nI don’t know why Commissioner Mark Wisenbaker was not there.\r\nOther than Vice-Chair Joyce Evans, who didn’t read the agenda item numbers,\r\nonly Commissioners Scottie Orenstein and Clay Griner were there this morning.\r\nThey asked no questions,\r\nas Griner had said at the planning meeting there was no need to,\r\nbecause staff supplied them with everything they needed to know.\r\n

\r\nTo her credit, Joyce Evans asked the only question, whether\r\n\r\nthe Rural Transportation Drug and Alcohol Testing Program was new<\/a>\r\n(It’s not new, answered County Engineer Mike Fletcher.)\r\n

\r\nThe only two citizens there were Gretchen Quarterman and Jody Hall,\r\neach of whom had hour-long round-trips to attend this three-minute non-meeting.\r\n

\r\nThe Valdosta Daily Times reporter\r\narrived after the meeting was adjourned. He at least got the packet provided at each meeting to the “Legal Organ”. \r\nYou, the citizens and taxpayers did not get that courtesy from the county.\r\n
