\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nTuesday Chairman Bill Slaughter did say\r\n\r\nthere will be a retreat Thursday and Friday this week<\/a>, but he didn’t say where or what time of day.\r\nYesterday afternoon they finally put on their website that\r\nit starts 8AM this morning at Quail Branch Lodge<\/a>.\r\nHere’s hoping Commissioner Joyce Evans is well enough to attend.\r\n

\r\nIn a refreshing change of procedure,\r\n\r\n they nominated all\r\n\r\nthree candidates for two VLMPO vacancies<\/a>,\r\nand selected the top two vote-getters:\r\nPhil Hubbard and Clay Milligan.\r\nHowever, only\r\nafter<\/em> they voted did they ask the candidates to speak.\r\nThey clearly had never met Hubbard, since they didn’t know who he was,\r\nand the Chairman and the agenda got Clay Milligan’s name wrong.\r\n

\r\nSurprisingly, they did not approve\r\n\r\n7c. Request for Relief for Tuscany Palms Utility Tax District<\/a>.\r\nThe developer wants $447,224.44 forgiven.\r\nThat’s a lot of money, more than ever forgiven before.\r\nThey tabled it so the County Attorney could research it more.\r\n

\r\nThey tabled rezoning\r\nREZ-2017-01 Cone\/Malone<\/a>\r\nuntil April at the request of all parties,\r\nand they tabled\r\nREZ-2017-02 Calles<\/a>\r\nuntil March for more information after once again the longest discussion in the meeting.\r\nThe Airport Authority wants further input, due to proximity,\r\nand the many agencies who have examined the site have not yet provided reports to the county.\r\nCounty Planner Jason Davenport said the Planning Commission had not really heard this case, only 10 minutes\r\nfrom the public, right after County Chairman Bill Slaughter only allowed 10 minutes from the public in\r\nthis County Commission meeting.\r\n

\r\nREZ-2017-02 Calles<\/a> is also a water item, because of the wetlands, and a neighbor’s claim that wells were being polluted.\r\nOther water issues included\r\n\r\nthe emergency custom switch for the Bevel Creek lift station<\/a>\r\nsingle-sourced from Cowart Electric for $18,850,\r\nthe\r\n\r\nengineering and permitting for the Jumping Gulley Bridge<\/a>\r\nfor which they approved $19,750,\r\nthe\r\n\r\nValencia Street Drainage Improvements<\/a>,\r\nwhich they tabled for more analysis to determine which option to pursue,\r\nand\r\n\r\nStacey Young’s CWTBH request from Roger Budd Company not to have to pay $300,000<\/a>\r\nto drill under Bemiss Road to connect to county water and sewer for an existing development.\r\n
