The Lowndes County Commission could do it.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ashley Paulk, a few months ago <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/04\/move-on-find-other-avenues-other-projects-ashley-paulk.html\"> <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/i3.ytimg.com\/vi\/B1jDbV1gEFE\/default.jpg\"    \/><\/a> <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/04\/move-on-find-other-avenues-other-projects-ashley-paulk.html\"> VLCIA approached the Lowndes County government,<\/a> asking them to ask VLCIA not to extend Sterling Planet&#8217;s contract for the biomass plant. Chairman Paulk refused to accept that hot potato and instead laudably told the community what was going on. Yet there was a bit of a good idea in what VLCIA was asking. Lowndes County could pass an ordinance such as VDT is suggesting banning the incineration of human feces.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/04\/vdt-says-vlcia-illegally-made-up-a-document.html\"> <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5022\/5592767775_484b172058_m.jpg\"    \/><\/a> Remember, <a href=\"\/blog\/2010\/09\/biomass-rezoning-minutes-county-commission-9-june-2009.html\"> Lowndes County rezoned the land for the plant.<\/a> It&#8217;s time to review that rezoning to see if in light of new information it should be rescinded. According to the VDT, <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/04\/vdt-says-vlcia-illegally-made-up-a-document.html\"> Wiregrass Power LLC supplied a fake timeline<\/a>, so it wuld not be interesting to know what else they said wasn&#8217;t true?<\/p>\n<p>For that matter, wasn&#8217;t the rezoning to build a certain biomass plant according to a certain plan which has no expired? Maybe the rezoning is already null and void and the Commission just needs to declare it so.<\/p>\n<p>Short of that, the Lowndes County Commission could demand transparency from VLCIA:<\/p>\n\n<!--more-->\n<ul>\n<li> Let&#8217;s see the land purchase contract. <\/li>\n<li> Let&#8217;s see all the VLCIA minutes related to the biomass plant, Wiregrass Power LLC, or Sterling Planet. <\/li>\n<li> Let&#8217;s hear VLCIA board members explain why they are ignoring copious evidence that the biomass plant would be a health hazard. <\/li>\n<li> Let&#8217;s hear them explain why their legal counsel can&#8217;t break a land purchase contract in the light of all that new information. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/06\/transparency-and-leadership-for-the-local-good-john-s-quarterman-vlcia-14-june-2011.html\"> <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/i2.ytimg.com\/vi\/iBmnVOPBuFk\/default.jpg\"    \/><\/a> Oh, and Commissioner Powell could ask the Commission to help do what Mayor Fretti said Powell and Fretti would do: <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/06\/transparency-and-leadership-for-the-local-good-john-s-quarterman-vlcia-14-june-2011.html\"> move ahead with expanding the Wiregrass Solar plant<\/a>.
