\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nNeighboring landowner Calvin Marshall,\r\nspeaking against rezoning for\r\n\r\nREZ-2011-10 Nottinghill<\/a>,\r\nsaid neighbors,\r\n

\r\n“We’re not interested in a Bluepool,\r\nWe’re not interested in a Chatham Place.\r\nAnd we’re certainly not interested in what they built out on Val Del Road.\r\nWe’ve also looked at what they’ve done with Old Pine,\r\nand we’re definitely not interested in that, either.\r\nToo small lots, small homes.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\nThat last one is presumably\r\n\r\nGlen Laurel<\/a>,\r\nwhich had a roomful of neighbors opposing it last year.\r\n

\r\nCalvin Marshall asked for the Commissioners to deny the Nottinghill\r\nrezoning request.\r\n

\r\nHe also asked:\r\n

\r\n“The other thing that we asked the developer … what you going to do about\r\nthe neighbors that have got a farm on each side?\r\nWhat kind of buffer are you going to put there?\r\n
\r\n…\r\n
\r\nWe farm that land, we grow crops,\r\nwe run cows,\r\nwe run goats,\r\nwe run hogs,\r\nand we’re going to continue to do that.\r\n
\r\n…\r\n
\r\nWe don’t have an answer as to what they’re going to do for a buffer.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nCalvin Marshall continued with the economic argument:\r\n

\r\n“There’s three or four generations of property owners in this room tonight.\r\nThese people go back for three or four generations.\r\nAnd these people have worked hard.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n\r\n
\r\nThis has always been a farming community.\r\nWe pay taxes,\r\nand we’re trying to continue to live.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nFinally, Calvin Marshall addressed the developer’s claim that\r\nmore houses were needed for Moody:\r\n

\r\n“Well, doing a little research, and they want the prices of their homes\r\nto be $139,000 to $159,500.\r\nWell, after a little research, in north Lowndes County, there’s already\r\n75 houses for sale in that price range.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
