\r\nHalf the meeting (11 1\/2 minutes) Tuesday was Commissioners grilling\r\n\r\nSheriff Chief Deputy Joe Crow<\/a>\r\nabout\r\nthe cost of\r\n\r\nHigh Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (Heat)<\/a>:\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nhow less funding is provided the more successful the program is,\r\nand federal funding may go away, leaving the county to foot the bill.\r\nChairman asked for monthly statistical updates.\r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall moved to approve continuation of the grant,\r\nplus a statement in favor of the grant including a disclaimer that the county would “work to preserve” as much of the grant as possible if state funding goes away.\r\n

\r\nThey approved\r\n\r\nfinally fixing the railroad bridge over Old Quitman Highway<\/a>.\r\nand\r\n\r\nsimilar but less complicated (no railroad) for the Jumping Gulley Road bridge<\/a>.\r\nNobody mentioned that the Sabal Trail fracked methane pipeline proposes to cross Jumping Gulley Road half a mile west of that bridge, and then to open cut through Jumping Gulley Creek just south of the state line.\r\n

\r\nSnake Nation Road is getting\r\n\r\nan emergency $168,928 box culvert repair<\/a>,\r\nwhich isn’t fast enough for former Commissioner Richard Lee,\r\n\r\nwho\r\n\r\n has to commute about half as far on his detour<\/a>\r\nas I do every time I go to the county palace:\r\nand nobody mentioned all the money the county previously spent to fix a sinkhole on the same road, nor whether the underlying karst limestone swiss cheeze could have had something to do with this emergency box culvert replacement.\r\n

\r\nThanks to County Engineer Mike Fletcher for explaining the reasons for the\r\nthree road abandonment items, on\r\n\r\nStrong Road<\/a>,\r\n\r\nPikes Pond Road<\/a>,\r\nand\r\n\r\nOld Miller Concrete Property<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nCommissioners asked a surprising number of questions about the two subdivision rezonings,\r\n\r\nLivingston<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\nGrove Point<\/a>,\r\nand ended up approving both as the developers requested.\r\n\r\n
