\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nFor an authority that gets 1.25 mil of your property tax dollars,\r\nthe Commissioners didn’t even know who was wanting to be reappointed,\r\nnone of them asked what happened during a year when one of them\r\nwas apparently serving on that board without a formal appointment,\r\nnot all of the Commissioners were present even voted,\r\nand none of the candidates for any of the board appointments even shhowed up, much less spoke.\r\nThe Lowndes County Commission at its June 28th 2016 Regular Session also\r\n\r\nunanimously adopted the budget<\/a> for what the Chairman repeatedly called\r\n“the physical year”, despite only perfunctory public hearings in advance,\r\nand no draft budget available on their website for the public to see.\r\nAfter<\/em> they approved the budget to spend the money\r\n(and according to County Manager Joe Pritchard after earlier that same morning the Tourism Authority approved their budget),\r\nthe Lowndes County Commissioners\r\n\r\nunanimously approved a hotel\/motel tax rate increase<\/a>.\r\nOdd order, eh?\r\n

\r\nAbout the 1.25 mil property tax\r\n\r\nParks and Rec Authority<\/a>,\r\nthe Chairman finally got around to saying\r\n\r\n Ashley Paulk did want to be reappointed.\r\n\r\nOf course they all voted to reappoint Ashley Paulk (or at least nobody said nay).\r\nThey weren’t so unanimous about the other VLPRA appointment for 2 more years after Michael McDowell apparently served for a year without actually being appointed; \r\nsee below<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThe\r\n\r\nComprehensive Plan Update<\/a> still wasn’t listed as a Public Hearing\r\non the agendas handed out at the meeting,\r\ndespite County Planner Jason Davenport saying the previous morning\r\nthat it should be.\r\nThe only member of the public who spoke was Gretchen; see below<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThey started with\r\n\r\na proclamation in support of 92 year old runner Ernie Andrus<\/a>,\r\nwho is raising money to preserve a World War II ship.\r\n

\r\nThey voted for both of the road abandonments,\r\nthe one labeled as such<\/a>\r\nand\r\n\r\nthe other one<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nThey approved the repair of the pump for the\r\nLand Application Site<\/a>,\r\nwhich is good, since the repair already happened.\r\n

\r\nNot on \r\nthe agenda<\/a>,\r\nthe Brookwood Place Subdivision tabled two weeks ago<\/a>\r\npopped up in\r\n\r\nReports<\/a>.\r\n
