Edwards<\/a> present.\r\nShe asked if they had received a factsheet she had prepared.\r\nChorus of &#8220;yes m&#8217;am&#8221;.\r\nShe said the accountability court would be very similar to the drug court\r\nthat has been created in Lowndes County.\r\nShe pointed out also present was\r\nProgram Coordinator Jennifer Fabbri.\r\nJudge Golden said the point was to reduce recidivism,\r\nthereby reducing the amount of DUI-related activities,\r\njail costs, arrests, and court costs,\r\nas well as helping rehabilitation of the individuals to be\r\n&#8220;productive taxpaying members of the community&#8221;.\r\nShe also held up the front page of the Valdosta Daily Times (she didn&#8217;t say which date) which apparently had some DUI statistics.\r\nShe said she had traveled to Colquitt County with Cindy Walker and observed\r\nthe DUI court there, and there were none south of there.\r\nShe seemed surprised Commissioners had no questions\r\nother than which county she had named (I think it was Colquitt).\r\n<p>\r\nAccording to Lee Henderson, Valdosta Today,\r\n8 February 2016,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/valdostatoday.com\/2016\/02\/judges-announce-creation-of-accountability-court\/\">\r\nJudges Announce Creation of Accountability Court<\/a>,\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nTo meet the needs of eligible participants, the Accountability Court\r\nallows for three separate tracks: Drug Court, Mental Health Court\r\nand Veteran&#8217;s Court.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nThe Lowndes County Accountability Court was established through a\r\ncollaborative effort led by The Honorable Richard M. Cowart and The\r\nHonorable James G. Tunison, Jr., and Lowndes County Commissioners\r\nJoyce Evans and Clay Griner. Commissioner Evans has been a long-time\r\nsupporter of efforts related to exploring ways the county could\r\nsupport the courts in order for offenders and their families to\r\nrealize a better long-term outcome. Funding was obtained by the\r\nCourt&#8217;s request to the Office of the Governor Criminal Justice\r\nCoordinating Council. The initial operating budget award is $64,403\r\nwith a required Lowndes County match of $7,156, supplied by the\r\nCounty Commission from the county&#8217;s contingency funds.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nThe Lowndes County Accountability Court will convene for its\r\ninaugural session on February 26.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<li>\r\n<a name=\"FY-17-Grant-Award-Accountability-Court-for-Superior-Court\" href=\"#FY-17-Grant-Award-Accountability-Court-for-Superior-Court\">\r\n6.b. This section of sidewalks along Copeland\r\nRoad will be from the intersection of Poole Street to Lowndes Middle\r\nSchool. The project will consist of clearing, grading, drainage,\r\nconcrete sidewalk, and asphalt paving. Vendors present for\r\npre&mdash;bid meeting held on May 23, 2016 were James Warren &#038;\r\nAssociates, Rountree Construction, and Southland Contractors.
