That\u2019s according to a\nreport released from the\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brookings.edu\/metro\/clean_jobs.aspx\">\nBrookings Institution,<\/a> which has crunched the\nnumbers of jobs created in the U.S. by sectors like solar, wind, waste\nwater recycling, public transportation and energy efficiency retrofits.\n<\/blockquote>\nQualified because Brookings includes not only wastewater and mass transit\n(good stuff, albeit a bit odd fit) but also biomass (ick).\n<p>\nHowever, even during the recession,\n<blockquote>\n&#8230;newer clean economy establishments\u2014 especially those in young\nenergy-related segments such as wind energy, solar PV, and smart\ngrid\u2014added jobs at a torrid pace, albeit from small bases.\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nNot just jobs, but good-paying jobs:\n<blockquote>\nThe clean economy offers more opportunities and better pay for low- and\nmiddle-skilled workers than the national economy as a whole. Median\nwages in the clean economy\u2014meaning those in the middle of the\ndistribution\u2014are 13 percent higher than median U.S. wages.
