\nI hear this all the time around here:\n\n<\/a>\n

\n\n“We’re not going to get into debate.”<\/a>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n\n“We will not, however, debate you over e-mail.”<\/a>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n\n<\/a>\n\n“There’s been enough debate.”<\/a>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n\n“one more public meeting with 15 minutes of pros and cons and\nthen hopefully that will be the end of discussion.”<\/a>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n\n<\/a>\n\n“I’m not going to debate you about that.”<\/a>\n<\/blockquote>\n
\n\n“Debate is not allowed.”<\/a>\n<\/blockquote>\nWell, why not?\nWhen did “debate” become a dirty word?\nWhat if we call it a civil discussion, will that make it sound better?\nNobody seems to know how to do that, either.\n

\nAnd that, my friends, is the real failure of the local education system.\n

\nNext: \nhow they do it in the best education system in the world.<\/a>\n
