\r\nThis morning’s 8:30 AM\r\n$45,600.00 for new grounds<\/a> for four\r\n\r\nradio towers<\/a>:\r\nwas it in the budget, or is this another emergency no-bid item?\r\nDitto the $10,379.00<\/a> for the \r\nKinderlou Lift Station Pump<\/a>?\r\nEach item names only one company quoting.\r\n

\r\nAfter\r\n\r\nabandoning Beaver Lane<\/a>, will the county vote to fix it as a private road,\r\n\r\n\"4689<\/a>\r\nlike they did with\r\n\r\nCarter Way<\/a>?\r\nAnd from whom did the county receive the abandonment request<\/a>?\r\nWill the\r\n\r\nCounty Manager’s Report<\/a>\r\ninclude\r\nthe Hahira W. Main St. annexation<\/a>?\r\n

\r\nAlso on\r\nthe Lowndes County Commission agenda<\/a> \r\nfor discussion Monday morning and vote Tuesday evening,\r\nappointing\r\n\r\n“Ms. Andrea Schuijer and a Commissioner”<\/a>\r\nto the \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nSouth Regional Joint Development Authority<\/a>.\r\nPresumably that’s a misspelling for\r\nAndrea Schruijer, who is also Executive Director of the Valdosta-Lowndes Development Authority.\r\nBut\r\n\r\nthe county’s web page on that Joint Authority<\/a>\r\nsays she’s already on it.\r\nSo is this a reappointment?\r\nAnd which slots are vacant?\r\nAlso, what does this Joint Authority do?\r\n

\r\nThe\r\nagenda sheet<\/a>\r\nfor the appointment to the\r\nSouthern Georgia Area Agency on Aging<\/a>\r\nalmost says what they’re planning to do:\r\n“Commissioner Joyce Evans’ term on the Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging Board\r\nwill expire June 30, 2016, leaving a vacant seat.\r\nStaff asks that the Board appoint a member to fill the vacant seat.”\r\nIt doesn’t say they’re going to reappoint Commissioner Evans.\r\n

        \r\nThe county actually has\r\n\r\na web page on this Authority<\/a>, which says there are members from Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Cook, Echols, Lanier, and Lowndes Counties (although many of their slots are vacant), and the current Lowndes members\r\nare Glenn Gregory, Andrea Schruijer, Bill Rountree, and Bill Holland<\/a>.\r\nSo should that be reappoint Ms. Schruijer?\r\nAnd who’s not being reappointed to make room for “a Commissioner”?\r\nThe county’s web page says this Authority serves as “a funding mechanism”\r\nbut not for what:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

        \r\nSimilar to the Lowndes Development Authority, this joint authority\r\nis comprised of members representing Lowndes, Berrien, Brooks,\r\nClinch, Echols and Lanier counties. Serving as a funding mechanism,\r\nmembers are appointment by their respective county for a term of\r\nfour years. It is only connected to the county\r\nroad system by this section they now want to abandon.\r\nAnd the only property owners show on\r\nthe Lowndes County Tax Assessors maps for Beaver Lane between Mt Zion Road and Phillips Road are\r\nJimmy L. Watkins of 4689 Mt Zion Road, parcel 0061 001<\/a>,\r\n\r\nRobert C. and Stephanie J. Simmons of 4876 Phillips Road, parcel 0062 001A<\/a>,\r\nand \r\nThomas Wade and Laverne B. Jackson of Mt Zion Road, parcel 0062 001B<\/a>.\r\nThey all seem to front on one of the other roads.\r\nThat’s all in the Withlacoochee River watershed.\r\n<\/p>
