\r\nWork Session 8:30 AM this morning,\r\nand Tuesday evening finally voting on the\r\nAnimal Services Ordinance<\/a>\r\nincluding tethering, and (who knew about this?)\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nappointing Christina Bennett to the Animal Control Board<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nRenewing the annual\r\nSection 5311 Rural Transportation Program Capital Contract<\/a>\r\nfor the MIDS bus service is on\r\nthe agenda<\/a>, as is\r\nappointing three people to the\r\nValdosta Lowndes County Metropolitan Planning Organization (VLMPO)<\/a> out of these\r\nfour:\r\nRonald Skrine, Tammy Greenway, Floyd Rose, Bob Wilburs.\r\nAs usual, how were people supposed to know?\r\nAnd where are the applications of those named?\r\n\r\n\r\nRev. Floyd Rose is well known to everybody, but who are the others?\r\nSure, we can find some of them, such as\r\nRonald Skrine’s linkedin profile says he’s\r\n\r\n“Battalion Chief, Administration,\r\nValdosta Fire Department”<\/a>.\r\nAt least they’re actually named in the agenda; that’s a tiny improvement.\r\n

\r\nAnnual residential solid waste franchise renewals\r\n for\r\nAdvanced Disposal Services<\/a> and\r\nDeep South Sanitation<\/a>:\r\nsomebody remind me why the county government is picking winners in trash collection,\r\nwhich also costs more now than it would have if they’d just increased the fee for the county collection centers 50%?\r\n

\r\nThey want to purchase and equip a trailer for space for multiple agencies to “coordinate during large events in which multiple agencies respond to the scene”,\r\nusing a\r\nFY2016 Homeland Security Grant Application<\/a>.\r\nPerhaps related, but less costly to the taxpayer, is an update of the\r\nStatewide Mutual Aid Agreement<\/a>\r\nwith GEMA and “each of the other 158 counties in Georgia”.\r\nAnd a\r\nCommunity Housing Development Organization (CHDO)<\/a>\r\n501(c)(3) to be “jointly operated by the Valdosta Housing Authority and the Valdosta\/Lowndes Habitat for Humanity” at a cost of $10,000.\r\nWe saw that before in their February 8th 2016 meeting<\/a>.\r\n
