{"id":15990,"date":"2016-03-01T15:00:05","date_gmt":"2016-03-01T20:00:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=15990"},"modified":"2016-03-01T15:00:05","modified_gmt":"2016-03-01T20:00:05","slug":"voting-machine-irregularities-in-lowndes-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2016\/03\/voting-machine-irregularities-in-lowndes-county.html","title":{"rendered":"Voting machine irregularities in Lowndes County?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\nAfter seeing reports of Democrats being required to vote provisionally<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mvp.sos.ga.gov\/MVP\/mvp.do\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017743cf2dc7970d-pi.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nin three different polling places (Clyattville, Hahira, and Trinity Baptist Church), I called Lowndes County Elections Supervisor Deb Cox at 229-671-2850.<\/p>\n<p>\nShe said the problem was in creating the cards for voting, not in the actual voting machines.<br \/>\nA separate machine called an Express Poll creates the cards.<br \/>\nShe said it was in the program on the Express Poll machines, which was uploaded improperly. The result was that some people couldn&#8217;t get cards.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, people could still vote using provisional ballots.<br \/>\nShe says it&#8217;s been fixed, and nobody has reported any problems since early this morning.<br \/>\nThis is the same thing she told <a href=\"http:\/\/valdostatoday.com\/2016\/03\/some-lowndes-county-residents-have-experience-problems-in-the-voting-booth\/\">Valdosta Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nWhen I told her people had also been reporting that they got a card and found that they were marked as Republican when they asked for a Democratic ballot.<br \/>\nDeb Cox said nobody has reported that to her.<br \/>\nShe asks for anybody who sees that or any other voting problems to please<br \/>\ncall her office,<br \/>\n229-671-2850.<\/p>\n<p>\nIf you have any difficulties, ask for a provisional ballot and call that number.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\nI also reminded her that I had pointed out years ago that<br \/>\nthe electronic voting machines Lowndes County uses had been established<br \/>\nby experts in the field to be easy to subvert.<br \/>\nI assured her that nobody was accusing her of anything, but the point<br \/>\nremains that somebody else easily could subvert the voting machines<br \/>\nand we have no paper trail.<br \/>\nSee for example <a href=\"http:\/\/www.crypto.com\/blog\/calibrate_the_vote\/\"><br \/>\nVote Flipping and Touchscreens<\/a>, by Matt Blaze, 3 November 2008.<br \/>\nDeb Cox said as she had back then that that was above her pay grade.<br \/>\nDecisions on what hardware and software to use for voting are made in Atlanta.<br \/>\nWe need to get that fixed.<\/p>\n<p>\nMeanwhile, get out and vote!<\/p>\n<p>\nThe best prevention of vote flipping is massive voting.<br \/>\nAnd it can be detected statistically after the fact,<br \/>\nas for example<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/americablog.com\/2015\/08\/mathematician-actual-voter-fraud-kansas-republicans.html\"><br \/>\nappears to be the case for Kansas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nSo the best thing to do is to go vote!<\/p>\n<p>\nIf you don&#8217;t know where, check<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mvp.sos.ga.gov\/MVP\/mvp.do\"><br \/>\nMy Voter Page<\/a> by the Georgia Secretary of State.<br \/>\nIf you need directions, see the handy Lowndes County Board of Elections<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lowndescounty.com\/222\/Polling-Locations\"><br \/>\nlist of precincts with links to maps<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nIt&#8217;s primary election day!<\/p>\n<p>\n -jsq<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After seeing reports of Democrats being required to vote provisionally in three different polling places (Clyattville, Hahira, and Trinity Baptist Church), I called Lowndes County Elections Supervisor Deb Cox at 229-671-2850.
