\n\n\"A<\/a>\nAt the mention of\n\nChaste Tree<\/a>, she picked up a copy of\nA Homeowner’s Guide to Preventing the Introduction and Spread of Invasive Plants in Georgia<\/em>,\nand turned to page 6, which says:\n<\/p>\n\n\n

\n\n\"Exotic<\/a>\nThese two plants are very similar and provide a good example of\nhow well native plants can be used in place of non-natives in your landscape.\nNon-native Chaste Tree, Vitex agnus-castus<\/em>,\non the left can escape and establish itself in natural areas.\nThe native bottlebrush buckeye, Aesculus parviflora<\/em>,\ncan be grown as a spreading shrub or pruned to grow upright.\nIt supports bumblebees, tiger swallowtail butterflies,\nSphinx moths and ruby-throated hummingbirds.\n<\/blockquote>\n

\nIf you like hummingbirds, choose bottlebrush buckeye.\n<\/p>\n

\n\n\"A<\/a>\nKaran also mentioned to me that Chaste tree already has\nescaped in Texas and is invasive there,\nand that when that happens one place, it usually happens\nelsewhere sooner or later.\n<\/p>\n

\nWe already have plenty of invasive exotic plants here,\nranging from Kudzu to Japanese climbing fern.\n\nBugwood.org<\/a>, which is located in Tifton, also has the\nextensive\nA Field Guide for the Identification of Invasive Plants in Southern Forests<\/em>.\n<\/p>\n

\n\n\"privet<\/a>\nIf that doesn’t convince you, I could use a hand with\n\nprivet fishing<\/a>, which is what I call\npulling up Chinese privet trees with a logging chain and tractor.\n<\/p>\n
