\r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard asked the Lowndes County Commission\r\n\r\nto spend the funds<\/a> the citizens of Lowndes County approved on the SPLOST VII referendum for the Naylor Boat Ramp:\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"Motion<\/a>\r\nWe are proposing for the purchase of\r\n4.35 acres of property on the Alapaha River designated for the purpose of a boat ramp.\r\nYou have the documentation there before you, the warranty deed.\r\nAnd as you are aware, this also reserves for an easement by the current owner,\r\na proposed easement, and the appraisal is for\r\n$24,000, as is the purchase price,\r\nand that is the consideration for the proposed easement.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nCommissioner Scottie Orenstein asked:\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nI believe someone said yesterday in Work Session that \r\nthere was maybe only one other access point in a river in Lowndes County that was\r\npublic?\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter answered:\r\n

\r\nTo my knowledge on the eastern side of Lowndes County on the Alapaha River there are no other accesses.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nCommissioner Demarcus Marshall remarked:\r\n

\r\n

\r\nJust thank staff for getting to it.\r\nIt’s been a long time coming.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nCommissioner Marshall moved to approve.\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"Motion<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nChairman asked for the purchase price, $24,000, and the acreage, 4.35 acres to be added,\r\nand the seller: Acree Investments.\r\nCommissioner Marshall agreed to add those points to the motion.\r\nCommissioner Joyce Evans seconded.\r\nAll approved.\r\n

\r\n$24,000 \/ 4.35 acres is $5,517.24 per acre, which isn’t bad for riverfront property with highway access.\r\nThanks to Dr. Acree for agreeing to sell at a reasonable price, and to the Lowndes County Commission for agreeing to buy.\r\n

\r\nHere’s\r\n\r\nthe Lowndes County Commission agenda<\/a>,\r\nwhich also includes many other items, such as\r\nthe obscurely named\r\nExecution of the Resolution for Hazardous Waste Trust Fund<\/a>,\r\nwhich is about the closed landfill at Clyattville.\r\n
