Former chair of
\nCommunity Partners in Education (CPIE) Jerome Tucker continued:<\/a><\/p>\n

\nThree weeks ago, at JL Lomax, I had lunch at Southeast Elementary Community
\nPartners in Education.
\nI didn’t see a Chamber […] person there; I didn’t see a CUEE member there.
\nHow in the world are you going to know what’s going on in school
\nif you don’t go in?
\n

He pointed out what most children want:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\nYou don’t have to pay somebody an extraordinary amount of money
\nto come in and tell you what you need.
\nMost of the kids just want somebody to listen to them read,
\nand read to them.\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He said if you want to participate, there’s a reading
\nprogram Thursday.<\/p>\n

\nBut if want to stand back in your ivory tower and decide what’s best
\nfor my community, stay away.
\n
