\r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard had to\r\n\r\nstop Chairman Bill Slaughter from\r\nadjourning<\/a> so he could say:\r\n“Friday afternoon we received a request for electronic signalling at highway 41.”\r\nCounty Engineer Mike Fletcher elaborated that it was a\r\nrailroad pre-empt that would not allow for left turns onto Tillman Crossing\r\nwhen there’s a train.\r\nRequest came from Norfolk Southern.\r\nChairman agreed to add it to the agenda, then they adjourned.\r\n

\r\n\r\nThe annual continued funding<\/a> for the Little River USGS stream gage at GA 122\r\ncosts $400 more this year.\r\nCommissioner Marshall wanted to know what happened with the automated gage reporting system he thought they voted for previously, that would send reports\r\nwhen the gage was high.\r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard said that was actually the SCADA system for the county’s wells and sewage lift stations.\r\nCommissioner Mark Wisenbaker wanted to know how this gage operates.\r\nBox on bridge, tube down into river, monitors height and flow,\r\nreported through a cell phone,\r\n\r\nreal time data on the web<\/a>.\r\nIt’s been there long enough to establish flood stages and advanced warning levels\r\nso people can protect their property.\r\n

\r\nThe\r\nAbandonment of a portion of Spain Ferry Road and Kinderlou Clyattville Road<\/a> turns out to be from\r\n\r\n six property owners (Schroers, Sims, etc.) because of heavy trucks and equipment crossing the road due to farming operations.\r\nThey’ll still have Quitman Road access.\r\n

\r\nDedicate a portion of Shiloh Road<\/a> as McDonald Road, to honor memory of John E. McDonald who “died in service to his country in 1969.”\r\nCommissioner Scott Orenstein thanked the staff for organizing this.\r\nWhich makes it even more mysterious why the agenda didn’t say the name.\r\n
