Greed is inappropriate expectation.<br \/>\nHowever, greed is applied to a very excessive or rapacious desire and<br \/>\npursuit of wealth, status, and power. &mdash;Wikipedia\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>We<br \/>\nwould like to think that our community &ldquo;leaders&rdquo; are not full of<br \/>\npride and greed, but please listen closely: <\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI>The<br \/>\nCUEE Board did <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>NOT<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\nmeet with both school boards prior to sending the petition around<br \/>\ntown.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>Troup<br \/>\nCounty Schools have <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>not<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\nmet AYP in 8 years.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>Tennessee&#8217;s<br \/>\nHamilton County system, the entire district, is currently high<br \/>\npriority. This means they have had <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>two<br \/>\nyears of bad results<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<br \/>\nThis is the school used in CUEE&#8217;s original study.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI><B>CUEE&#8217;s<br \/>\nexpert<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\nSteve Prigohzy said,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&quot;If you believe in the end that running<br \/>\none system is cheaper than running two school systems. If in the end<br \/>\nyou are going to cast a vote for a single system because you think<br \/>\nit would save money, <B>I<br \/>\nwouldn&#8217;t cast my vote<\/B><br \/>\nI do not think it will save money.&quot;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><LI>If<br \/>\nconsolidation passes, there will be <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>only<br \/>\n7 Board Members representing almost 20,000 students<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<br \/>\n<\/FONT><\/FONT>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<table style=\"float:right;border:1px solid black;width:40%;padding:5;\"    >\n<tr>\n<td>\n<strong>Luke 12:15,<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nThen he said to them, &ldquo;Watch out! Some people, eager for money,<br \/>\nhave wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many<br \/>\ngriefs.&rdquo;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\nNot everyone is sitting<br \/>\non the sidelines regarding consolidation. I will go ahead and ask you<br \/>\nto vote no to consolidation on November 8<\/FONT><SUP>th<\/FONT><\/SUP>.<br \/>\nI believe we all agree that pride can be powerful and destructive.<br \/>\n<\/FONT>Pride is mentioned in James 1:10,<br \/>\n<\/FONT><SUP>10<\/FONT><\/SUP><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n&ldquo;But the rich should take pride in their humiliation&mdash;since they will<br \/>\npass away like a wild flower.&rdquo;\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<LI>Bussing<br \/>\n<\/FONT><\/FONT><B>will<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\noccur and children <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>will<br \/>\nhave to change schools<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>From<br \/>\na practical standpoint, will <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>all<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\nthe current elementary schools stay <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>open<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\n<\/P><br \/>\n<LI>How<br \/>\nmany educators are currently on the CUEE board? How many educators<br \/>\nare on the list of supporters of CUEE? <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>How<br \/>\nmany experts on education are behind this and why?<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>Which<br \/>\nof the current 16 total Board (County and City) members are willing<br \/>\nto <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>walk away<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\nto make room for the 7 &ldquo;interim&rdquo; members?<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>If<br \/>\nthis passes, <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>Valdosta<br \/>\nCity Schools no longer exist<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<br \/>\nWhat if this were Lowndes County Schools ceasing to exist?<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>Who<br \/>\nwill supply the $5 million dollars required <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>YEARLY<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\nto bring the current City School Employees to the same retirement<br \/>\ncompensation level as the current County School Employees?<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>Can<br \/>\nCUEE guarantee that teachers will not lose their jobs, tenure or<br \/>\npensions? These teachers consider their jobs to be at their current<br \/>\nschool. Can CUEE also guarantee that no staff members will be moved<br \/>\naround to other schools? <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>Teachers<br \/>\nand Principals will have to relocate<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI>Couldn&#8217;t<br \/>\nthe enormous funds being spent by CUEE be <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>better<br \/>\nused to improve our schools<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>?<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<LI><B>Our<br \/>\nathletic programs will change<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<\/UL><br \/>\n<UL><br \/>\n<LI>Based<br \/>\non <\/FONT><\/FONT>a summary<br \/>\nfrom Academic Leadership, Volume 4 Issue 2 Spring 2006, Authors: Joe<br \/>\nBard, Clark E. The basic concept is that <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>unless<br \/>\nthe people are united, it is easy to destroy them<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.&rdquo;<br \/>\n<\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n<B>As<br \/>\ncitizens of the City of Valdosta, we are the people<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<br \/>\nThose of us that are registered to vote, need to vote. We need to<br \/>\nremain united and not allow a group of individuals to destroy us. <\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\n<B>As<br \/>\ncitizens of Lowndes County, you are the people<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<br \/>\nEven though you cannot vote on consolidation, you and your children<br \/>\nwill still be directly affected in a multitude of ways. Although your<br \/>\nright to vote has been denied, you can still stand united with the<br \/>\ncitizens of Valdosta against these individuals who are in pursuit of<br \/>\nwealth, status and power.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nI<br \/>\nagree that as a community we should come together with a common<br \/>\nfocus. <\/FONT><\/FONT><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nI<br \/>\nagree our common focus should be about helping the children of this<br \/>\ncommunity become the best educated they can be.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nAs<br \/>\nan adult community, not a group of small children, when we ask,<br \/>\n&ldquo;WHY?&rdquo;, we deserve answers other than &ldquo;because we say so&rdquo;.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nAs<br \/>\nadults, do not be afraid to state where you stand. <\/FONT><\/FONT><B>Don&#8217;t<br \/>\nbe lukewarm<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nIf<br \/>\nyou want consolidation, please stand and  be prepared to answer our<br \/>\n&ldquo;why&#8217;s&rdquo; with facts.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P><br \/>\nIf<br \/>\nyou DO NOT want consolidation, please stand up,<\/FONT><\/FONT><B><br \/>\nright here, right now<\/B><\/FONT><\/FONT>,<br \/>\nfor your rights and the rights of the children in this community.<\/FONT><\/FONT><\/P>\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Received 4 Oct 2011. -jsq Greed is an excessive desire to possess wealth or goods with the intention to keep it for one&#8217;s self.
