In 2014, solar photovoltaic overtook solid biofuels to\r\nbecome the second largest source of non-hydro renewable electricity\r\nin OECD Europe, with a share of 17.3%. Since 1990, solar\r\nphotovoltaic has been increasing at an average growth rate of 44.6%\r\nper year, and wind at 27.1% per year.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nEven 44.6% per year is more than doubling every two years,\r\nand in more recent years, the U.S. solar growth rate is more like 65% per year.\r\n<p>\r\nIn this graph, solar PV is the gold line bursting up since 2010,\r\nand wind is the gray line up tp since 2000.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.iea.org\/newsroomandevents\/news\/2015\/august\/renewable-electricity-generation-climbs-to-second-place-after-coal.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.iea.org\/media\/news\/2015\/news\/OECDEuropeNonHydroRenewableElectricitybysource.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nWe know how to power the whole world on sun, wind, and water, and nothing else.\r\nHere&#8217;s\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/07\/100-renewable-energy-for-u-s-by-2050.html\">the plan for the U.S.<\/a> to get there\r\n25% by 2025,\r\n80% by 2030,\r\n90% by 2035,\r\nand 100% by 2040.\r\nMaybe if we keep using\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mythencyclopedia.com\/Pa-Pr\/Perseus.html\">\r\nPerseus&#8217; mirror-shield of truth<\/a>, the world will see the\r\npipeline Medusa as the monster it is and we&#8217;ll do all this even faster.\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nationalmediamuseum.org.uk\/2013\/08\/22\/ray-harryhausen-changed-our-perception-of-medusa-forever\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/nationalmediamuseumblog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/08\/medusabronze.jpg?w=547\"><\/a>\r\n<br>\r\nMedusa bronze statuette \u00a9 Ray and Diana Harryhausen Foundation\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nThe clean renewable energy future has already begun;\r\nlet&#8217;s go forward, not frack.\r\n<p>\r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Why are we building any new natural gas pipelines when solar and wind have already won the world?
