\r\nIt’s great that the Lowndes County Comissioner for District 2\r\n\r\n\"300x94<\/a>\r\nis reporting about a highway in his district,\r\nbut why isn’t the county reporting it on its own facebook page,\r\nwebsite, twitter account, etc.?\r\nWhile the county doesn’t have facebook account (why not?) it does\r\nhave those other things and there’s nothing on them about\r\n\r\nthis news<\/a>:\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nUPDATE: I received word from the County Engineer that, due to the\r\ncongestion this morning on Hwy 41N, The Scruggs company will no\r\nlonger be working during the day. They will begin working late in\r\nthe evenings and Into the night. This will help with the traffic\r\nsituation for area residents. Work is expected to be complete within\r\ntwo weeks.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nOn the county’s website, the latest\r\n\r\nNews Flash<\/a> is from last week, 7 August 2015:\r\n\r\nSHILOH ROAD SINKHOLE — NEW DETOUR- UPDATE 2:00 P.M.<\/a>.\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n8\/7\/15 — Lowndes County Engineering continues to evaluate\r\nconditions on Shiloh Road related to a large sinkhole. County staff\r\nalong with geologists, engineers and soil scientists are in the\r\nprocess of studying any potential impacts the sinkhole that\r\ndeveloped on Tuesday may have on surrounding areas. The Engineering\r\nDepartment has established a permanent detour for the affected\r\nportion of Shiloh Road. Southbound traffic should use Morven Road to\r\nHwy 122 to Union Road to Franks Creek Road. Northbound traffic\r\nshould use Franks Creek Road to Union Road to Hwy 122 to Morven\r\nRoad. As a reminder, the edges of the sinkhole are very unstable and\r\ncontinue to slide. Everyone is encouraged to remain clear of this\r\narea. Also, please note that the sinkhole is located on private\r\nproperty and citizens are encouraged to respect rights of the\r\nproperty owner and remain off of private property. As always,\r\nmotorist should exercise extreme caution while traveling in this\r\narea. Due to vandalism, temporary barricades have been replaced with\r\nconcrete. Citizens are encouraged to remember that damage to county\r\nproperty is against the law and in this case could place others in\r\ndanger. Local law enforcement will continue to monitor activity in\r\nthe area.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nAt least the county finally said what the detour should be, not just\r\n\r\n“the usual detour”<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nAlso nothing about US41N on the county’s @Lowndes411 twitter account,\r\nwhere the latest tweet is from\r\n\r\n8 Aug 2015<\/a>,\r\n

\r\nMaybe this shouldn’t be surprising from the same county government that\r\n\r\npasses an ordinance without revealing the old or new versions<\/a>\r\nuntil LAKE filed an open record request, and even then only\r\n\r\nless than an hour before they voted<\/a>.\r\nThe same county government whose County Clerk\r\n\r\ntook more than four years to provide copies of minutes she signed<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nAlso the same County Clerk who after more than four years\r\nstill can’t produce a list of the ordinances the county has enacted.\r\n
