\nMore than 100 demonstrators marched through the streets\n\n<\/a>\nof Valdosta Friday.\n
\nThey’re protesting issues from corporate greed to unemployment all the\nway down to local issues including school consolidation.\n<\/blockquote>\nThere you have it: WALB links school consolidation to corporate greed.\n

\nThey were chanting “they got bailed out we got sold out.”\n<\/blockquote>\nYep,\n\nlike this.<\/a>\n\nOccupy Valdosta protesters chanted as they marched down Patterson\nStreet. They made their first stop at Bank of America to protest the\ndebit card fees, but no one there came out to acknowledge them.\n\n“We’re here trying to make money and the banks are trying to take more\nmoney from us,” said Erin Hurley.\n<\/blockquote>\nJade Bulecza also managed to find one protester who wouldn’t give his name,\nand then found a self-identified right wing bystander to comment.\nI must ask her next time I see her: does her editor make her do stuff\nlike that, or does she do it on her own?\n
\nThat part of her story drew the expected commentary on the WALB website:\n
\n“We want, we want, we want”. Tell us your name! Don’t you want to be\nrecognized for your noble actions?\n<\/blockquote>\nFrom someone identifying herself only as “LuLu”.\n\nMore appropriate would be to ask why\nnobody associated with Bank of America was willing to\ntalk to any of the reporters.\nThat may be why WALB had to resort to random bystanders.\n
\nTo jump ahead to the Chamber of Commerce for a moment,\nWALB reported this gem:\n
\nThe president says 86 percent of the members are small business owners.\n\n“We are the 99,” said Myrna Ballard.\n<\/blockquote>\nThat Myrna Ballard! She’s such a card.\n
\nBut thanks again to Myrna Ballard for being willing to come out and\ngreet us, unlike Bank of America.\n
\nDean Poling also came out to talk at the VDT,\nas you can see in the WALB video.\nHm, that doesn’t seem to be linked to the WALB text story anymore.\nNot to worry: we have local video, which will be up soon.\n
