\r\n\r\nMONDAY IS DEADLINE TO APPEAL PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENTS!\r\n<\/strong>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nYou can look up your property on the Tax Assessors’ website:\r\nwww.qpublic.net\/ga\/lowndes<\/a>.\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThat Chamber message includes this useful information:\r\n\r\n\r\n

\r\nThere are two methods to appeal your assessed value:\r\n

    \r\n
  1. \r\nIn person. Take your property assessment notice with you to the Lowndes County Tax Assessors’ office at 302 North Patterson Street in Downtown Valdosta. Office hours are 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Telephone is 229-671-2540.\r\n
  2. \r\nBy mail.\r\n
      \r\n
    1. \r\nSend a letter USPS POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN AUGUST 10:\r\n
      \r\n

      \r\n“My name is ______________________.\r\n
      \r\nI am appealing the assessed value of (address).\r\n
      \r\nMy telephone number is_________________________.”\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

    2. \r\nDownload and complete this form:\r\n

      \r\nIf you miss this year’s deadline, you can appeal next year.\r\n

      \r\nThe best time to discuss the value of your property with the Tax\r\nAssessor is between January 1 and April 1, or as soon as you receive\r\nyour property assessment notice.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

      \r\nExcept nobody I know got an assessment notice within that timefram,\r\nrather much later.\r\n

      \r\nWhich makes me wonder why can’t that August 10th deadline be extended\r\nto allow people the time the Tax Assessors didn’t give us?\r\n
