\n\n<\/a>\nOrganizers expect hundreds to gather this weekend in front of the\nValdosta-Lowndes County Chamber of Commerce for a march opposing the\nconsolidation of city and county school systems.\n

\n\n<\/a>\nScheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, the march takes the stand that\n\u201cour children are not for sale.\u201d\n

\n\u201cWe intend to put hundreds of people in the streets,\u201d said the\n\nRev. Floyd Rose<\/a>, president of the Valdosta-Lowndes County chapter of the\nSouthern Christian Leadership Conference. \u201cWe know and they know that\nthis has never been about consolidating the school system.\u201d\n<\/blockquote>\nInteresting that the VDT neither contradicts that nor finds a counterview\nto publish.\nMaybe since the VDT did an about-face about consolidation,\nit’s been able to see more clearly….\n

\n

\n\n<\/a>\nThe march will be led by Rose,\n\nSam Allen, former Valdosta City Schools superintendent,<\/a>\nand Leigh Touchton, NAACP president. Other community\nleaders and representatives from both Lowndes and Valdosta high schools\nwill be present.\n<\/blockquote>\n9AM Saturday at the parking lot across from the Chamber of Commerce.\n
