{"id":13648,"date":"2015-07-15T13:24:32","date_gmt":"2015-07-15T17:24:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=13648"},"modified":"2015-07-15T13:28:42","modified_gmt":"2015-07-15T17:28:42","slug":"airport-authority-budget-request-discussed-and-approved-lcc-2015-07-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/07\/airport-authority-budget-request-discussed-and-approved-lcc-2015-07-14.html","title":{"rendered":"Airport Authority Budget Request discussed and approved @ LCC 2015-07-14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLshUv86fYkiG31_qrDqJtxlEvG5dH_rk8\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/kVod9aCJtds\/mqdefault.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nNot on the agenda, discussed for fifteen minutes, then suddenly\r\napproved:\r\nmore funding for the Airport Authority,\r\nat the\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/07\/videos-airport-appointments-well-and-septic-road-naming-and-evidence-lcc-2015-07-14.html\">\r\n14 July 2015 Regular Session of the Lowndes County Commission<\/a>.\r\nWhich was similar to the previous morning&#8217;s transportation study\r\ndiscussion, except the Commission didn&#8217;t vote that time on any possibility\r\nof funding that one.\r\n<p>\r\nTSA has reduced the amount of money it gives to small airports like\r\nValdosta and in order to have<!--more-->\r\n\r\n an officer with arrest authority, the\r\ncounty and city of Valdosta must work together to fund the positions\r\n(17 hours daily that airport is open). The Lowndes County Commission\r\ndid not include this expenditure in the budget approved last month\r\nbecause they wanted more information and Airport Executive Director\r\nJim Galloway came to explain the need.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nAfter the security request, there was a request for additional\r\nfunding for fire protection.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nBoth requests were approved by the commission.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nThis was not a scheduled agenda item and was presented during the\r\nCounty Manager&#8217;s report.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n-gretchen\r\n<p>\r\nWhich is very interesting considering the Chairman&#8217;s last word\r\nthe previous morning\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/07\/transportation-explained-to-lowndes-county-commission-lcc-2015-07-13.html\">\r\nabout the public transit and trucking study funding request<\/a>\r\nwas:\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n&#8230;it will have to come back and be added to the agenda for reconsideration.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nMaybe it just depends on whether the Commissioners like a topic\r\nwhether it has to be on the agenda to be voted on.\r\n<p>\r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>\r\n<a name=\"Reports-County-Manager-Airport-Authority-Budget-Request-part-1\" href=\"#Reports-County-Manager-Airport-Authority-Budget-Request-part-1\">\r\n8. Reports - County Manager - Airport Authority Budget Request (part 1)\" src=\"http:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/kVod9aCJtds\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<p style=\"font-style:normal\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=kVod9aCJtds&#038;index=1&#038;list=PLshUv86fYkiG31_qrDqJtxlEvG5dH_rk8\">Video.<\/a>\r\nCounty Manager Joe Pritchard said &#8220;you have at your seats&#8221; a proposal\r\npreviously requested by Commissioners and provided by VLAA Executive Director\r\nJim Galloway.\r\nChairman Bill Slaughter said he had added some material.\r\nGalloway said it was for law enforcement to protect TSA people and\r\nrental car agents.\r\nSteve Everett, VLAA Chairman, echoed the request.\r\nHe referred to the &#8220;shortfall&#8221; between the city and the county.\r\nEventually, after some questions from the Commissioners,\r\nhe elaborated that the City of Valdosta was currently\r\nfunding the shortfall, and looking for some relief from the county.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<li>\r\n<a name=\"Reports-County-Manager-Airport-Authority-Budget-Request-part-2\" href=\"#Reports-County-Manager-Airport-Authority-Budget-Request-part-2\">\r\n8.
