The Valdosta\ncommunity has recently come together to do just that.\n<p>\nOn Friday, I participated in the\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/10\/marching-to-occupy-valdosta-14-october-2011.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6220\/6244621351_33b256f6bf_m.jpg\"><\/a>\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/10\/marching-to-occupy-valdosta-14-october-2011.html\">\nOccupy Valdosta march<\/a>\nwith over 100\nstudents, teachers, and other members of the Valdosta community. I was\nexcited that I got to shed my title of Spectator reporter and\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/10\/take-your-money-out-of-bank-of-america-day-occupy-valdosta.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/i4.ytimg.com\/vi\/cdjMN9Bmsko\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\neditor for a\nday and actually fully take part in an event. The turnout was, in a word,\namazing. Honestly, I was trying not to get my hopes up too high for this.\n<\/blockquote>\nThe rest of her very interesting experiences and opinions are well worth\na read.\nHere&#8217;s her conclusion:\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\nBeing a part of this march was, in a word, liberating.\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/10\/at-the-mlk-monument-occupy-valdosta.html\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   src=\"http:\/\/i4.ytimg.com\/vi\/S0o_2BGbRFU\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\nI felt like we\nwere really doing something, like maybe things will begin to change.
