\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nRather than wondering “Can we have our own energy\r\nsystem?” people are going to be wanting to know “Why\r\ncan’t we have it?”\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nThis is why early adopters like Alton Burns<\/a>\r\nand George Bennett<\/a> matter:\r\nother people start asking: why can’t we have that?\r\nAnd now that HB 57 is finally law<\/a>,\r\nlots more people can have solar power without mortgaging the farm.\r\nThen they ask this question: why can’t we have storage?\r\n

\r\n

\r\nThe Tesla Energy program unveiled last week is\r\n\r\n comprehensive, with\r\nworldwide ramifications. The Powerwall system which offers 10 kWh is\r\naimed at domestic consumers. It is complemented by an industrial\r\nsystem referred to as the Powerpack providing 100 kWh storage, along\r\nwith a stack of 100 such units to form a 10 megawatt hour storage\r\nunit, which can be used at the range of small electricity grids.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nEntire communities could possibly create micro-grid power supply\r\nsystems around this kind of a 10 MWh energy storage system, fed by\r\nrenewable power generation (wind power or rooftop solar power), at\r\nprices that clearly have become very competitive.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nLast week at his launch, Musk maintained that the complete electric\r\npower grid of the United States could very well be replicated with\r\nonly 160 million of these utility-scale energy storage units.\r\nMoreover, two billion of the utility-scale models would be able to\r\nprovide storage of 20 trillion kWh — electric power for the\r\nworld.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nAnd that’s only\r\n\r\none of many storage solutions<\/a> coming onto the market that Tesla is opening.\r\n

\r\n

\r\nIf it’s possible to create these exhaust-pumping complicated\r\nmachines, it’s surely possible to create the storage units which can\r\nhelp make those machines unnecessary. Furthermore, Elon Musk has\r\njust affirmed that he plans to do just that.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\nBetting on fossil fuels in 2015, like Kinder Morgan is doing with the Palmetto Pipeline\r\nor Spectra Energy, FPL, and Duke Energy are doing with the Sabal Trail Pipeline,\r\nis like betting on horses in 1915 to provide future road transportation.\r\n

\r\nLet’s bet on the sun.\r\n
