Quarterman, 3 April 2015\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/72e5e059057edc494d4026dcba61e734.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nThere&#8217;s still time to submit an amicus brief for the\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2015\/03\/25\/grasping-at-semicolons-sabal-trail-fail-in-leesburg\/\">\r\ncourt case in Leesburg, Georgia<\/a>.\r\nAnd time to <a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/ferc\/how-to-send-an-ecomment-to-ferc\/\">file an ecomment<\/a> or an out-of-time <a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/ferc\/how-to-file-a-motion-to-intervene\/\">motion to intervene<\/a> against Sabal Trail.\r\nOr against\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/lng-export\/#Georgia\">\r\nElba Island LNG<\/a>\r\nor against\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/dalton.wpengine.com\/\">\r\nTransco and Atlanta Gas Light&#8217;s Dalton Expansion Project<\/a>.\r\nOr to oppose\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2015\/03\/26\/oil-palmetto-vs-gas-sabal-trail-pipelines-at-ferc\/\">\r\nKinder Morgan&#8217;s southeast Georgia Palmetto oil pipeline<\/a>\r\nat the Georgia Department of Transportation or GA-EDP.\r\nBoth those state agencies have to provide permits for Sabal Trail\r\nto get the Georgia emininent domain it demands in Leesburg,\r\nso they are relevant to Sabal Trail, as well, as is your opinion\r\nand those of all local elected governments in Georgia.\r\n<p>\r\nDan Chapman, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 3 April 2015,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myajc.com\/news\/business\/south-georgia-pipeline-plan-fuels-fight\/nkmdZ\/\">\r\nPipeline project fuels fight on state&#8217;s future,<\/a> \r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nRegardless of route, Sabal Trail opponents fear pipeline\r\nconstruction  could create sinkholes<!--more-->\r\n\r\n that drain streams or puncture\r\nsubterranean  waterways. Much of the ground below southwest Georgia\r\nis limestone that  allows water to flow easily between streams,\r\nsprings and wells. Leaks,  they fear, could send gas into the water\r\nsupply.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n&ldquo;Pipelines are the safest form of transporting natural\r\ngas,&rdquo; responded [Spectra Energy Director of Stakeholder Outreach Andrea] Grover, adding that Sabal Trail would\r\npiggyback on existing  gas and electric transmission lines for 70\r\npercent of its journey  through Georgia. &ldquo;We want to operate a\r\nsafe pipeline, stay in business  and be part of the communities once\r\nwe get there.&rdquo;\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nWe don&#8217;t have to settle for the least bad anymore.\r\nFlorida doesn&#8217;t need any more natural gas, and even Ms. Grover\r\ndidn&#8217;t try to claim any customers in Georgia for this article,\r\neven though <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/03\/sabal-trail-is-claiming-customers-that-do-not-want-its-gas-and-city-and-county-resolutions-are-relevant-it-seems.html\">Spectra attorneys are claiming exactly that in Leesburg<\/a>.\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n&ldquo;Atlanta is surrounded by fossil fuel invaders with more\r\npipelines  likely in the future,&rdquo; said John S. Quarterman, a\r\nleader of the  anti-Sabal Trail campaign in Valdosta. &ldquo;But\r\nthere&#8217;s no need for any of  this now that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/03\/solar-growth-like-compound-interest-has-turned-al-gore-into-an-optimist.html\">solar power is cheaper<\/a>,\r\nfar cleaner than oil or gas and  doesn&#8217;t require pipelines,\r\nterminals, compressor stations, eminent  domain or environmental\r\ndegradation.&rdquo;\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nSpectra&#8217;s buying up land because it expects the usual FERC and state\r\nagency rubberstamp:\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nSpectra has cobbled together 20 percent of the needed easements\r\nalong  the main proposed route and cleared the land around the\r\nAlbany pump  station. Opponents say they&#8217;re not giving in.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n&ldquo;They want to pay you money for your land, but money is not\r\njust  everything,&rdquo; said Rosalyn Bridges, who owns 300 acres in\r\nMitchell  County. &ldquo;Air and water can not be replaced. They are\r\ngifts from God,  your creator. We have the Garden of Eden down\r\nhere.&rdquo;\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nYou can help preserve our paradise.\r\nCitizen activism already got <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/03\/ga-senate-unanimously-approved-solar-financing-bill.html\">a Georgia solar financing law<\/a> that will boost Georgia even higher than fastest-growing solar market in the country.
