Quarterman, 3 April 2015\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/72e5e059057edc494d4026dcba61e734.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nThere&#8217;s still time to submit an amicus brief for the<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2015\/03\/25\/grasping-at-semicolons-sabal-trail-fail-in-leesburg\/\"><br \/>\ncourt case in Leesburg, Georgia<\/a>.<br \/>\nAnd time to <a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/ferc\/how-to-send-an-ecomment-to-ferc\/\">file an ecomment<\/a> or an out-of-time <a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/ferc\/how-to-file-a-motion-to-intervene\/\">motion to intervene<\/a> against Sabal Trail.<br \/>\nOr against<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/lng-export\/#Georgia\"><br \/>\nElba Island LNG<\/a><br \/>\nor against<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/dalton.wpengine.com\/\"><br \/>\nTransco and Atlanta Gas Light&#8217;s Dalton Expansion Project<\/a>.<br \/>\nOr to oppose<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2015\/03\/26\/oil-palmetto-vs-gas-sabal-trail-pipelines-at-ferc\/\"><br \/>\nKinder Morgan&#8217;s southeast Georgia Palmetto oil pipeline<\/a><br \/>\nat the Georgia Department of Transportation or GA-EDP.<br \/>\nBoth those state agencies have to provide permits for Sabal Trail<br \/>\nto get the Georgia emininent domain it demands in Leesburg,<br \/>\nso they are relevant to Sabal Trail, as well, as is your opinion<br \/>\nand those of all local elected governments in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>\nDan Chapman, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 3 April 2015,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.myajc.com\/news\/business\/south-georgia-pipeline-plan-fuels-fight\/nkmdZ\/\"><br \/>\nPipeline project fuels fight on state&#8217;s future,<\/a> <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nRegardless of route, Sabal Trail opponents fear pipeline<br \/>\nconstruction  could create sinkholes<!--more--><\/p>\n<p> that drain streams or puncture<br \/>\nsubterranean  waterways. Much of the ground below southwest Georgia<br \/>\nis limestone that  allows water to flow easily between streams,<br \/>\nsprings and wells. Leaks,  they fear, could send gas into the water<br \/>\nsupply.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&ldquo;Pipelines are the safest form of transporting natural<br \/>\ngas,&rdquo; responded [Spectra Energy Director of Stakeholder Outreach Andrea] Grover, adding that Sabal Trail would<br \/>\npiggyback on existing  gas and electric transmission lines for 70<br \/>\npercent of its journey  through Georgia. &ldquo;We want to operate a<br \/>\nsafe pipeline, stay in business  and be part of the communities once<br \/>\nwe get there.&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nWe don&#8217;t have to settle for the least bad anymore.<br \/>\nFlorida doesn&#8217;t need any more natural gas, and even Ms. Grover<br \/>\ndidn&#8217;t try to claim any customers in Georgia for this article,<br \/>\neven though <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/03\/sabal-trail-is-claiming-customers-that-do-not-want-its-gas-and-city-and-county-resolutions-are-relevant-it-seems.html\">Spectra attorneys are claiming exactly that in Leesburg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\n&ldquo;Atlanta is surrounded by fossil fuel invaders with more<br \/>\npipelines  likely in the future,&rdquo; said John S. Quarterman, a<br \/>\nleader of the  anti-Sabal Trail campaign in Valdosta. &ldquo;But<br \/>\nthere&#8217;s no need for any of  this now that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/03\/solar-growth-like-compound-interest-has-turned-al-gore-into-an-optimist.html\">solar power is cheaper<\/a>,<br \/>\nfar cleaner than oil or gas and  doesn&#8217;t require pipelines,<br \/>\nterminals, compressor stations, eminent  domain or environmental<br \/>\ndegradation.&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nSpectra&#8217;s buying up land because it expects the usual FERC and state<br \/>\nagency rubberstamp:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\nSpectra has cobbled together 20 percent of the needed easements<br \/>\nalong  the main proposed route and cleared the land around the<br \/>\nAlbany pump  station. Opponents say they&#8217;re not giving in.\n<\/p>\n<p>\n&ldquo;They want to pay you money for your land, but money is not<br \/>\njust  everything,&rdquo; said Rosalyn Bridges, who owns 300 acres in<br \/>\nMitchell  County. &ldquo;Air and water can not be replaced. They are<br \/>\ngifts from God,  your creator. We have the Garden of Eden down<br \/>\nhere.&rdquo;\n<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\nYou can help preserve our paradise.<br \/>\nCitizen activism already got <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/03\/ga-senate-unanimously-approved-solar-financing-bill.html\">a Georgia solar financing law<\/a> that will boost Georgia even higher than fastest-growing solar market in the country.
