{"id":11986,"date":"2015-01-02T13:26:27","date_gmt":"2015-01-02T18:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=11986"},"modified":"2015-01-02T13:28:40","modified_gmt":"2015-01-02T18:28:40","slug":"sunshine-for-local-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2015\/01\/sunshine-for-local-government.html","title":{"rendered":"Sunshine for local government"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<em><br \/>\nWe&#8217;ve got a little list, a spreadsheet as a list,<br \/>\n<br \/>\nplease don&#8217;t take this as a diss, we think they have been missed&#8230;.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.musicnotes.com\/unsupported.asp?BadBrsr=true&#038;ppn=MN0085924\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.musicnotes.com\/images\/productimages\/mtd\/MN0085924.gif\"><\/a><br \/>\nUnlike Ko-Ko&#8217;s in the Mikado,<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/hot-topics\/lake-sunshine-list-for-local-government.html\"><br \/>\nthis list<\/a> is of things previously<br \/>\nmissed that are slowly being found (or created),<br \/>\nso local governments can tell the citizens what fine things they&#8217;ve<br \/>\nbeen up to, and so citizens can decide what they need to deal with<br \/>\nand what topics they can provide input on.<br \/>\nHere&#8217;s the<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/hot-topics\/lake-sunshine-list-for-local-government.html\"><br \/>\nLAKE sunshine list for local government<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Lowndes County Commission just got some additions,<br \/>\nwith<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lowndescounty.com\/\">its new website<\/a>,<br \/>\nby<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/lowndes-countys-own-videos-lcc-2014-12-09.html\"><br \/>\nposting videos of its own meetings<\/a>,<br \/>\nand by<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/lowndescounty.com\/AgendaCenter\"><br \/>\nposting agendas and minutes for the Planning Commission<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\nThe Valdosta City Council does pretty well, with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.valdostacity.com\/\">its website<\/a>,<br \/>\nits <a href=\"http:\/\/www.valdostacity.com\/Index.aspx?page=193\">agendas and minutes<\/a>,<br \/>\nand<br \/>\nthe<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.valdostacity.com\/Index.aspx?page=103\"><br \/>\nagendas and summaries and minutes for ZBOA<\/a>.<br \/>\nValdosta does not (yet) video and post its own meetings, but<br \/>\nit does have what appears to be<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.valdostacity.com\/index.aspx?page=61\"><br \/>\na complete list of its ordinances with links to their text<\/a>.<br \/>\nDasher also has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dasherga.com\/ordinances.php\"><br \/>\nits ordinances online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/07\/keep-the-business-of-our-county-in-order-gretchen-quarterman.html\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6031\/5890777113_1a660294f2_m.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nMeanwhile the Lowndes County Commission has only<!--more--><\/p>\n<p> a very brief list online<br \/>\nand<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/07\/keep-the-business-of-our-county-in-order-gretchen-quarterman.html\"><br \/>\nafter four years of asking<\/a><br \/>\nstill doesn&#8217;t even know what all its own ordinances are.<\/p>\n<p>\nNeither Lowndes nor Valdosta have a list of their resolutions online.<\/p>\n<p>\nBoth<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/videos-pipeline-tourism-klvb-appointments-flowers-lcc-2014-12-09.html#Sabal-Trail-Resolution\"><br \/>\nLowndes<\/a> and<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/valdosta-passes-resolution-against-sabal-trail-pipeline-not-in-this-city-this-county-or-this-state-vcc-2014-12-11.html\"><br \/>\nValdosta<\/a> have passed resolutions against the<br \/>\nSabal Trail pipeline, but neither have passed an ordinance yet.<\/p>\n<p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=A-_m6EZ1SUk\"><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"https:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/A-_m6EZ1SUk\/mqdefault.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\nMost of the local elected governments have their own websites,<br \/>\nexcept Hahira, which still<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hahira.ga.us\/\"><br \/>\nonly has an old one<\/a> that doesn&#8217;t<br \/>\neven show the correct mayor or council members.<\/p>\n<p>Obviously not all the 20+ appointed boards are on there yet; it&#8217;s a work in progress.<br \/>\nProbably you&#8217;ll think of more organizations, or more items that have been missed.<br \/>\nIf so:<\/p>\n<p>\n<em><br \/>\nWe may put &#8217;em on the list, more can go right on the list,<br \/>\n<br \/>\nIf you think they have been missed;
