McAlee-Miller and others that animals were\nunnecessarily euthanized and that injured animals brought to the shelter\nwere left untreated.\n<\/blockquote>\nThere are a few differences from the local situation here.\n<p>\nThomas J. Prohaska wrote yesterday for BuffaloNews.com,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.buffalonews.com\/city\/communities\/niagara-county\/article696114.ece\">\nSPCA in Erie County to probe charges against Faso:\nNiagara board president announces request for investigation of claims<\/a>,\n<blockquote>\nBarbara Carr, executive director of the SPCA Serving Erie County,\nsaid her board of directors, which meets today, would have to\napprove the investigation, but she doesn&#8217;t expect any difficulty in\nwinning approval.\n<p>\nThere will be at least one key condition: &#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t do an\ninvestigation unless the document we produced was made public,&#8221; Carr\nsaid.\n<\/blockquote>\nThe relevant local authorities welcome an investigation and\ninsist on making the results public.\nImagine that!\n<p>\nAnd, according to\nDave McKinley yesterday at wgrz.com,\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wgrz.com\/news\/daybreak\/article\/148872\/37\/Niagara-Co-SPCA-Approves-Outside-Investigation-Of-Its-Animal-Shelter\">\nNiagara Co. SPCA Approves Outside Investigation Of Its Animal Shelter<\/a>\n\n<!--more-->\n<blockquote>\nScrufari spoke with reporters Wednesday, following a 2-1\/2 hour,\nclosed door emergency meeting of the board, in which 9 of its 10\nmembers participated.\n<p>\n&#8220;At this point we have not been able to verify any of the\naccusations, including the issue of the healthy animals being\neuthanized,&#8221; Scufari said.\n<p>\nBut he also says the matter is far from being closed.\n<p>\n&#8220;So, what we have done is requested the Erie County SPCA to perform\nan independent investigation of some of the issues that have been\npresented in the (media) and by former employees.&#8221;<\/blockquote>\nOK, that part about &#8220;we have not been able to verify&#8221; sounds familiar.\n<p>\nBut the parts about going ahead and holding a special meeting to approve\nan investigation, and explicitly calling in an outside agency\nto do the investigation, those just don&#8217;t sound like the Lowndes County way.\n<p>\nBut they could be.\n<p>\n-jsq\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Why does this sound familiar?
