\r\n\r\n\"300x162<\/a>\r\nAs\r\n\r\nannounced at the Lowndes County Commission meeting on Tuesday<\/a>,\r\nthe new county website was available this morning. I took a little\r\nself tour and then started sending in comments to County Clerk Paige\r\nDukes. Paige has been responsive in answering my questions and\r\ncomments and I heartily suggest to everyone that you take a look\r\naround and then send in your comments.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nA few things I’ve noticed so far.\r\n\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nYou can look at the web site without creating an account but if you\r\ncreate yourself an account then you can sign up to get notifications\r\nabout a variety of topics. One annoying thing is that for each thing\r\nyou sign up for you have to “reconfirm” with a url that is sent to\r\nyou. This isn’t the county’s fault, it is by design of the service\r\nprovider (civicplus) list service implementation. The mail comes\r\nfrom “listserv@civicplus.com” but it’s not clear if they are\r\nactually using the oh so 1990’s mailing list software of listserv.\r\nAnyway, be prepared to click a bunch of links to confirm each list:\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nLots of new material on the web site including agendas for the\r\nGreater Lowndes Planning Commission.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nFinding the commission minutes is a bit tricky, they are stashed in\r\nthe “Document Center” and in the “Agenda Center”. In the “Agenda\r\nCenter” there is a tiny column that says “Minutes” that has a little\r\ngreen check box. Some of the items are labelled “Board of\r\nCommissioners Meeting Agenda” and some “Board of Commissioners\r\nMeeting Agenda and Minutes” but some that don’t say minutes have\r\nthem anyways on that little box.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nOver on the right there is a download button that offers options of\r\n“html, pdf, packet” but all of them are just different routes to pdf\r\nversions of the minutes.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nI was hoping that the “packet” option would reveal the packets but\r\nmaybe that will happen starting in 2015!\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nThere are a few little glitches when moving around in the document\r\ncenter, like the county clerk area says there are “No records to\r\ndisplay” but claims that I am at 401 - 26 of 26<\/code>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nBut again, those problems probably aren’t the fault of the county\r\nbut rather of the service provider. I’m sure the contract with\r\ncivicplus has a clause about how timely they will be about fixing\r\nthings like this.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nAgain, I encourage everyone to check out the new county web site and\r\nsend comments\/corrections\/problems to the County Clerk Paige Dukes\r\nat pdukes@lowndescounty.com . \r\nAnd as a final note, it already has more information than the old site.\r\n<\/p>\r\n
