The City&#8217;s support includes concerns with fundamental\r\nproperty rights, the manner in which eminent domain might be\r\nutilized, and the lack of demonstrated benefit to the City and\r\nCounty. Council Robert Yost said he didn&#8217;t think such a\r\nresolution was something the City of Valdosta should be doing, and\r\nhe would not vote Thursday. No other Council members expressed any\r\nreservations. Council Sonny Vickers said he thought it was worth\r\ndoing to show unity. Resolution - Sabal Trail\" src=\"http:\/\/i.ytimg.com\/vi\/QVj2d1KkEDQ\/default.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<p style=\"font-style:normal\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=QVj2d1KkEDQ&#038;list=PLshUv86fYkiHWR2pmpzBG5AqC3Zx8UR1F&#038;index=2\">Video.<\/a>\r\nCity Manager Larry Hanson said:\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/we-all-live-in-lowndes-county-valdosta-draft-resolution-against-sabal-trail-pipeline-vcc-2014-12-09.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/3ae09754013f5667cf9a441ecb650778.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nWe discussed this\r\n<a href=\"#Resolution-Sabal-Trail\">Tuesday night<\/a>,\r\nand I&#8217;m always proud the city&#8217;s always looked at itself as a community\r\norganization and a regional community and this is an issue that has been\r\nof interest and concern to some in our community.\r\nAnd so the city has drafted a resolution to basically support\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/videos-pipeline-tourism-klvb-appointments-flowers-lcc-2014-12-09.html#Sabal-Trail-Resolution\">\r\nthe position of Lowndes County<\/a>,\r\nand there are some concerns and issues that have been expressed.\r\n<p>\r\nIt also does add one that is unique to the city.\r\nAnd that is that the city will obviously have some concern about\r\nthis proposed pipeline and its construction that might affect\r\nthe Floridan Aquifer, which of course is the primary source of\r\ndrinking water for Valdosta, Lowndes County, and all of south Georgia.\r\n<p>\r\nSo the recommendation is just before you to adopt this resolution,\r\nreally as a resolution to support the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners\r\nin their position.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p style=\"font-style:normal\">\r\nHere&#8217;s\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/11\/opposes-sabal-trail-pipeline-in-any-portion-of-lowndes-county-lowndes-county-commission.html\">\r\nthe text of Lowndes County&#8217;s resolution<\/a>\r\nand\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/we-all-live-in-lowndes-county-valdosta-draft-resolution-against-sabal-trail-pipeline-vcc-2014-12-09.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/a26b1bd73caff8ef96ea1a7097af0d57.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/we-all-live-in-lowndes-county-valdosta-draft-resolution-against-sabal-trail-pipeline-vcc-2014-12-09.html\">\r\nthe text of the City of Valdosta&#8217;s resolution<\/a>.\r\nHere&#8217;s\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/we-all-live-in-lowndes-county-valdosta-draft-resolution-against-sabal-trail-pipeline-vcc-2014-12-09.html#Aquifer\">\r\nthe specific aquifer clause<\/a> Hanson described:\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<strong>WHEREAS<\/strong>, the City of Valdosta has concerns regarding\r\nany potential effect the proposed pipeline or its construction might\r\nhave on the Floridan aquifer, the primary source of the drinking water\r\nsupply for our City, County and the south Georgia area; and\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p style=\"font-style:normal\">\r\nCouncil Tim Carroll moved &#8220;to adopt this resolution and to also file it with\r\nthe Federal Energy Regulatory Commission&#8221;.\r\nI think Sonny Vickers seconded.\r\nWithout further discussion, six voted for.\r\nCouncil Robert Yost abstained, as\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/against-sabal-trail-pipeline-3-ordinances-bomb-report-vcc-2014-12-09.html#Resolution-Sabal-Trail\">\r\nhe had said Tuesday<\/a> he would do, so the motion passed 6 to 1.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<li>\r\n<a name=\"Citizens-to-be-Heard-Michael-Noll\" href=\"#Citizens-to-be-Heard-Michael-Noll\">\r\n10. Noll, president of Wiregrass Activists for Clean Energy (WACE),\r\ncommended the police chief,\r\ncongratulated the city on the\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/12\/valdosta-recognized-for-solar-power-led-lighting-wastewater-improvements.html\">\r\nsmart energy award<\/a>,\r\nand thanked the Council for\r\n<a href=\"#Resolution-Sabal-Trail\">\r\nthe Sabal Trail resolution<\/a>.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<li>\r\n<a name=\"Citizens-to-be-Heard-Tom-Hochschild\" href=\"#Citizens-to-be-Heard-Tom-Hochschild\">\r\n10.
