So may I\r\nstart with the serenity prayer.\r\nI really ask\r\nthe Great Spirit to grant me the Serenity to accept the things that\r\nI cannot change, the Courage to change the things that I can, and the Wisdom to know the difference.\r\n
\r\nThis Earth does not belong to us as we have borrowed it\r\nfrom our children. While we are all on our journey\r\nto the other side, before we cross over,\r\nmay we ask ourselves, “What kind of legacy do we want to leave behind\r\nfor our children and future generations?”\r\nThe extraction of Gas. Oil, and Coal have taken their toll on Mother Nature and\r\nwith no end in sight we continue to push forward down the same road of\r\ndebauchery.\r\n
\r\nMountain top mining has destroyed 500 mountains, over a million acres\r\nof forest. and buried over 2000 miles of once beautiful streams\r\nin West Virginia\r\nand east Kentucky.\r\nAnd when it is burned, the emissions are so bad, the EPA is shutting\r\nthese dragons down.\r\nBut yet after another catastrophe, they tell us we need to study more\r\non the problem.\r\nWhat can we do with 60 years of waste, in the form of a hundred million tons\r\nof burnt ash.\r\nWe all know about BP.\r\nOur Supreme Court now refused to hear their appeal as they do not\r\nwant to pay.\r\n
\r\nAnd then there is the fracking.\r\nThe boom\r\nstarted in Pennsylvania in 2008 and spread across this country like a wild Fire.\r\nSome argue oh how safe it burns;\r\nit burns cleaner than coal.\r\nBut the impact it has on the environment is catastrophic.\r\nBillions of gallons of water are used and per mentally contaminated and then pumped right back into the\r\nground or dumped into our rivers and streams and there have been cases of this toxic water illegally dumped\r\non streets at night. This is polluting Aquifers all over the country. Now it has to be transported and that brings me here to you today, about the pipeline.\r\n
\r\nNote: \u201cThis pipeline is much bigger than previous pipe lines or those that blew up recently in Oklahoma and\r\nTexas. Plus the company behind this pipeline has a long list of fines for PCB pollution by EPA for property\r\ndamage, leaks, and negligence by PHMSA.”\r\nI have just recently Ieamed of Sabal Trail’s prospective route of\r\nwhich nould come very close to my home and of alternate routes that may carry this potential disaster\r\nstraight down US Hwy 19, through Thomasville.\r\nI’m sure that the citizens of our area\r\nare unaware of this and the dangers that will come with it.\r\nThere are all too many devastating explosions that often happen.\r\n
\r\nFurther, this pipeline would have to cross six rivers. the\r\nChattahoochee, Flint, Withlachoochee, Suwannee, Santa Fe, and the Ichetucknee. Some rivers twice. These\r\nare all very sensitive water areas. These pipelines rupture and they rupture under rivers too. An\r\nexample of this: Raritan River in central New Jersey February 14, 2014.\r\nAnd there are many other cases.\r\n
\r\nThis alone is a 3 Billion Dollar project.\r\nSo I ask for the the Courage to speak,\r\nand I ask you and I ask the CEO of Sabal Trail\r\nwith your combined wisdom\r\nto consider investing in solar instead and creating green jobs.\r\nBuild solar farms like our neighbors in Camilla.\r\nEven Duke Energy now wants to invest $500 million\r\nin a big commitment to solar, and build solar farms in North Carolina.\r\n
\r\nI thank you for allowing me to speak.\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n
\r\n\r\nG.h.
