Quarterman, 24 November 2014\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/3f86f573f575713028ebce609dc6c23b.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nThe alleged &#8220;Project Need&#8221; in\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2014\/11\/21\/sabal-trail-formal-ferc-filing-cp15-17\/\">\r\nSabal Trail&#8217;s Friday FERC docket CP15-17 permit application<\/a>\r\nto get eminent domain for its 100-foot-wide gouge for a yard-wide hazardous fracked methane pipeline is: Sabal Trail claims it has contracts to sell the gas.\r\nLet&#8217;s apply that logic to Sabal Trail co-owner FPL&#8217;s headquarters.\r\n<p>\r\nThis is FPL headquarters at 700 Universe Blvd., Juno Beach, Florida,\r\nin the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser&#8217;s map:<!--more-->\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%\">\r\n<a title=\"1072x256 Between the Atlantic and the canal, in FPL Headquarters, by John S. Quarterman, 24 November 2014\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/11\/6ec99ff2ea6de408db06a062f8ab5645.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<\/P>\r\n<p>\r\nMaybe that golf course between FPL and the sea could use a hotel next door;\r\na hotel conveniently located close enough to the canal to buy up some land\r\nthere, too, forming a corridor with access to both the canal and the sea.\r\n<p>\r\nWe&#8217;ve been told repeatedly by Sabal Trail that its pipeline would bring\r\neconomic benefits from people staying in local hotels (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/11\/sabal-trail-newspaper-assertions-contradicted-by-spectra-corporate-documents-and-ferc-filings-john-s-quarterman-to-ferc.html\">and who could doubt Sabal Trail<\/a>), so a hotel is good!\r\nPlus a golf course hotel between a canal and the sea would bring in customers\r\nlong after Sabal Trail&#8217;s pipeline-installation roughneck mercenaries finished their invasion of the southeast and retired back to Houston.\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.maunalani.com\/experience\/green-resorts-hawaii\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:300px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.maunalani.com\/assets\/images\/inset\/insert_solar%20roof.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nNow on this hotel, suppose the golf course wanted to put solar panels,\r\nplus some wind mills since this is next to the windy Atlantic.\r\nSabal Trail&#8217;s filing refers to the &#8220;the growing demand for natural gas by\r\nthe electric generation, distribution and end use markets in the States\r\nof Alabama, Georgia and Florida.&#8221;\r\nOK, then, the hotel can do electric generation, distribution, and end use\r\nall right there in one spot in the State of Florida!\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2014\/10\/10\/fsc-formally-filed-for-ferc-permit-26-september-2014\/\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"https:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5477\/10303215264_58f83b6c3c_n.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nAnd why not do the same thing up and down the Atlantic and Gulf coasts\r\nof Florida, much like\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2014\/10\/10\/fsc-formally-filed-for-ferc-permit-26-september-2014\/\">\r\nFPL filed 26 September 2014 in FERC docket CP14-554<\/a> for its\r\nFlorida Southeast Connection (FSC) pipeline from\r\nSabal Trail to Martin County, FL, and like FPL already built\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2014\/05\/04\/fpls-hometown-newspaper-about-sabal-trail-pipeline-opposition\/\">a pipeline from Martin County to the Atlantic<\/a>.\r\n<p>\r\nI bet a chain of golf courses could do the same thing throughout Florida,\r\nGeorgia, and Alabama, especially on some of that unused land that has nothing\r\nbut Transco and Spectra pipelines on it.\r\nAnd with enough energy production, an interstate consortium like that\r\ncould propose to become an energy utility in each of those states,\r\nor to run power lines down those pipeline rights of way and sell\r\nelectricity to the existing utilities in each state.\r\n<p>\r\nSo we should all encourage a golf course chain to petition FL PSC and FERC\r\nfor &#8220;CERTIFICATES OF PUBLIC CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY\r\nAND FOR RELATED AUTHORIZATIONS&#8221; so this new golf sun-and-wind energy\r\nconsortium would have eminent domain to take FPL&#8217;s headquarters\r\nand Transco and Spectra&#8217;s pipelines and turn them into public benefits\r\nfor all these United States.\r\n<p><a title=\"669x722 Duke Suwannee Plant, in Duke Energy Center, by John S. Quarterman, for WWALS.net, 16 August 2014\" src=\"http:\/\/www.wwals.net\/wp-content\/themes\/pianoblack\/img\/\/2014\/08\/f224aa9e8b2b70d741f40d2d0b628b1b.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nWhile we&#8217;re at it, how about <a href=\"hhttp:\/\/www.wwals.net\/2014\/08\/18\/pipeline-withlacoochee-suwannee-rivers-21-sep-2014\/\">Duke Energy&#8217;s Suwannee Plant<\/a>, conveniently\r\nsituated on the beautiful Suwannee River, and currently doing nothing\r\nto contribute to\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stateofflorida.com\/Portal\/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=95\">\r\nFlorida&#8217;s $67 billion tourism economy<\/a>.\r\nDurn thing&#8217;s got cooling water intake and outtake canals; repurpose those\r\nfor boating access to the Suwannee River!\r\nExtend them with offshoots, for the Venice of north Florida!\r\nPut solar panels on the roofs of the Venetian-style canal houses\r\nand the Venetian-style gondolas and on top of the existing FGT\r\npipeline!\r\nGood news, current FGT owners Kinder Morgan and Energy Transfer Partners,\r\nyou have the happy offer of eminent domain: it&#8217;s not a threat, it&#8217;s a public benefit offer you cannot refuse!\r\n<p>\r\nClearly improved tourism and sun and wind energy are more of a public\r\nbenefit to the Sunshine State and therefore to all of the United States\r\nthan a measly $3 billion pipeline bashing through the Springs and rivers\r\nand private lands of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.upstreamonline.com\/live\/1370768\/Tokyo-Gas-buys-Cameron-LNG-volumes\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:300px\" src=\"http:\/\/upstreamonline.com.cdn.bitbit.net\/incoming\/article1244839.ece\/alternates\/article_main\/Cameron_LNG.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nAnd why stop there?\r\nSolar hotel onwards west, converting\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/2014-06-19\/sempra-wins-final-u-s-approval-for-cameron-lng-exports.html\">\r\nSempra Energy&#8217;s Cameron LNG<\/a>\r\nto a nice resort by the Gulf.\r\nDon&#8217;t\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.upstreamonline.com\/live\/1370768\/Tokyo-Gas-buys-Cameron-LNG-volumes\">\r\nexport fracked gas to Tokyo Gas<\/a>, import Japanese tourists\r\nto Louisiana!\r\n<p>\r\nKeep on to Houston, where we can\r\nreclaim Spectra headquarters for the public good!\r\n<p>\r\nThank you, FPL and Spectra and Williams Company, which filed Thursday\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2014\/11\/21\/williams-company-formal-filling-cp15-16-for-hillabee-expansion-project\/\">in FERC Docket CP15-16 for \r\na permit to get eminent domain<\/a>.\r\nThank you for showing us the way \r\nto the sun and wind power future of the U.S.: eminent domain for us!\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/11\/even-more-u-s-solar-jobs-than-in-coal-or-oil-and-gas-extraction.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:300px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thesolarfoundation.org\/sites\/thesolarfoundation.org\/files\/TSF%20National%20Solar%20Jobs%20Census%20Graphic.png\"><\/a>\r\nActually, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/11\/even-more-u-s-solar-jobs-than-in-coal-or-oil-and-gas-extraction.html\">\r\nthere are already more U.S. solar jobs than in non-supervisory oil and gas extraction<\/a>,\r\nand solar power deployment is growing like compound interest far faster\r\nthan anything else, with wind a distant second and the failed fracking revolution way down below.\r\n<p>\r\nBut with eminent domain we can really put the pedal to the metal\r\nfor faster, cheaper, far cleaner solar and wind power\r\njobs right here where we need them! \r\n<p>\r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/story\/2014\/01\/norman-bay-ferc-nominee-102897.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;width:300px\" src=\"http:\/\/images.politico.com\/global\/2013\/06\/17\/120605_ferc_js_605.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nPS: And finally let&#8217;s take FERC headquarters for the public benefit of all the citizens of the United States.\r\nLet&#8217;s use eminent domain to top that shiny glass on FERC&#8217;s current home office with some shiny rooftop solar panels on the new 888 First Street, N.E. headquarters of nationwide energy utility Solar Hotels U.S.!\r\n<p>\r\nIt&#8217;s for your own good, FERC.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The alleged &#8220;Project Need&#8221; in Sabal Trail&#8217;s Friday FERC docket CP15-17 permit application to get eminent domain for its 100-foot-wide gouge for a yard-wide hazardous fracked methane pipeline is: Sabal Trail claims it has contracts to sell the gas.
