No Problem, Says Canadian Firm Planning To Send Crude East Instead Of South<\/a>,<!--more-->\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nMomentum is building for an all-Canadian oil pipeline that would\r\nserve as an alternative to the proposed Keystone XL project, which\r\nis on indefinite hold. The proposed north-of-the-border pipeline\r\nwould be North America&#8217;s largest and comes as U.S. President Barack\r\nObama and Canadian oil companies attempt to heed the concerns of\r\nfarmers and environmentalists.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nNebraska farmers don&#8217;t want Canadian heavy crude piped over their\r\nwatersheds on its way to the Gulf Coast. Environmentalists are\r\nagainst the oil being taken out of the ground at all.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nFacing U.S. pushback and internal opposition from Native American\r\ngroups for the shorter Northern Gateway pipeline from Alberta to the\r\nPacific Ocean, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the\r\ncountry&#8217;s largest energy concern, TransCanada Corporation, seem\r\nready to develop the Energy East Project as an alternative.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nInteresting that TransCanada&#8217;s Energy East Project would end up\r\nin St John, New Brunswick, home of CanaPort LNG Import Terminal.\r\nSo, is CanaPort going to switch to export, maybe of both LNG and oil?\r\nOr ship the oil on to the\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/lng-export\/#NS\">\r\nproposed Goldboro, Nova Scotia LNG export terminal<\/a>\r\nand add oil to the exports from there?\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/lng-export\/#NS\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.theglobeandmail.com\/incoming\/article4647590.ece\/BINARY\/w620\/maritime-pipeline.jpg\"><\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nLet&#8217;s recall that\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/2014\/04\/06\/spectra-and-transcanada-competing-in-lng-export-in-british-columbia\/\">\r\nSpectra Energy and TransCanada are competing directly in British Columbia for LNG export<\/a>.\r\nSo it wouldn&#8217;t be surprising to see them running pipelines for different\r\nfossil fuels to the same locations.\r\nDoesn&#8217;t really matter: there is no good place to export tar sands oil.\r\nSolar power is cheaper, faster, far cleaner, and brings jobs right here\r\nwhere we need them.\r\n<p>\r\nMeanwhile, Spectra and FPL&#8217;s Sabal Trail fracked methane pipeline\r\nis just as much of an unnecessary and hazardous boondoggle as\r\nTransCanada&#8217;s Keystone XL pipeline.\r\n<p>\r\nSolar power for the Sunshine State, Georgia, Alabama, and the rest of the U.S.!\r\n<p>\r\n -jsq\r\n<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"We are all Indians to the fossil fuel cowboys, but this time the Indians won.
