\r\n\r\n\"300x165<\/a>\r\nBERRIEN CO., GA (WALB) —\r\nThe City of Nashville says residential customers can resume normal\r\nnatural gas use, after they asked all gas customers to conserve gas\r\nin the wake of a ruptured line.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nCommercial business customers were still asked to conserve gas use\r\nThursday night, according to Dawn Morrison with the City.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"300x166<\/a>\r\nResident Elizabeth Cherry said she was just thankful no one got hurt\r\nwhen the line was ruptured around 10 a.m.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“I was really worried about my dog because [my house] is so close,\r\nand he’s kind of jittery anyway,” said Cherry.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\nCherry was coming home from the store with a car load of groceries\r\naround 10:30 when she tried to turn down Cat Creek Road and go home\r\nand was told the road was closed until crews could get the gas leak\r\nstopped.\r\n<\/p>\r\n

\r\n“Saw the ambulance at the corner, then I noticed all the cars here.\r\nOf course, I stopped and asked what’s wrong and they told me,” she\r\nexplained.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

\r\n\r\n\"Carol<\/a>\r\nThe story goes on to quote SONAT Operations Supervisor Carol Parramore as saying a motor grader hit the pipeline.\r\nThat’s what I said at first, too, but several neighbors say it was the \r\nditch puller, which pulls dirt out of the ditch for the road scrape\r\nto spread on the road.\r\nThat matches the break being in the ditch.\r\nWhy don’t pipeline companies bury their pipes deeper under road ditches?\r\n

\r\nThe gas didn’t get lit this time,\r\nfortunately, and nobody was hurt, although WALB quotes\r\nthe Berrien County Sheriff Anthony Heath as saying 40-50 people were evacuated.\r\nIncluding me, from the site, after taking\r\nthese pictures before WALB got there<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nSabal Trail plans to bury its 36-inch pipe only 36 inches deep.\r\nWhat if a ditch puller hit that?\r\nWhat if it sparked and set it off?\r\n
