(Chip) Harp, Valdosta Today Editor, 27 October 2014,\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/valdostatoday.com\/2014\/10\/proposed-pipeline-will-disrupt-south-georgia-but-for-what-gain\/\">\r\nProposed Pipeline will Disrupt south Georgia, but for What Gain?<\/a>,\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nSASSER &mdash; The proposed (and likely) Sabal Trail natural gas\r\npipeline will impact most residents in south Georgia, bringing\r\nadditional natural gas supplies to Florida &ldquo;while increasing\r\nthe diversity and reliability of the region&#8217;s energy-delivery system\r\nand positively impacting the economy in the Southeast, specifically\r\nAlabama, Georgia and Florida&rdquo;, per Sabal Trail reports.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nHowever, as has been seen already, it will also have a negative\r\nimpact on many area businesses, landowners and residents, especially\r\nagricultural-based businesses. One of those affected is produce and<!--more-->\r\nag-tourism business Mark&#8217;s Melon Patch in Sasser, northwest of\r\nAlbany.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nTerrell County resident and native Mark Daniel has been operating\r\nthis produce and ag-tourism business for over 33 years. His stand\r\nand business has grown to be a fixture off busy US Highway 82 over\r\nthe decades. His business not only offers fresh local produce for\r\nsale, but other family-based activities which he says would be\r\ndisrupted by the proposed pipeline. The proposed route would be\r\nbuilt along his property, where he had hopes of expanding his\r\nbusiness.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\n&ldquo;It&#8217;s something that&#8217;s very near and dear to me. And the\r\nthreat of a pipeline coming through here and messing that dream of\r\nmine up is heartbreaking to me,&rdquo; Daniel told WALB in an\r\ninterview.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nThere&#8217;s much more in that editorial, which is well worth reading.\r\nAnd also this, after regurgitating Sabal Trail&#8217;s PR about natural\r\ngas being &#8220;clean&#8221; (which it isn&#8217;t: methane is a far worse greenhouse gas\r\nthan CO2) and about lower prices (which will actually go up if\r\nexports start, such as through those <a href=\"http:\/\/spectrabusters.org\/lng-export\/#Florida\">three already-authorized LNG\r\nexport operations<\/a> right where this pipeline would go in Florida):\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nIt seems to be another case of the collective good superseding the\r\nindividual&#8217;s needs. That&#8217;s why the Federal Government has\r\noverarching authority to make these decisions through FERC.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n<p>\r\nWell, if you consider profit for a few utilities and fossil fuel companies\r\nto be &#8220;the collective good&#8221;.
