\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nIf it’s old, it’s no good: tear it down!\r\nDespite\r\n\r\nAlfred Willis saying<\/a> the\r\n\r\nNichols House<\/a> was not just\r\n\r\nhistoric like he presented in his October 1st lecture<\/a>,\r\nbut perhaps the most historic,\r\n\r\na lawyer spoke against it<\/a>,\r\nand\r\nthe Valdosta City Council voted against preserving it\r\nand thus in favor of demolishing it for the\r\n\r\nTurner Brooks<\/a> subdivision next to VSU.\r\nOnly Council Robert Yost, in whose district the Nichols House remains\r\nfor the moment,\r\n\r\nvoted for preserving it<\/a>.\r\nWe’re told the\r\n\r\nwater issues noted by WWALS<\/a> for that subdivision\r\nare permitting issues, so we’ll see what happens with those.\r\nSee also\r\n\r\nAlfred Willis’ comments to the Valdosta Historic Preservation Commission<\/a>.\r\n

\r\nAnd the Council approved\r\n\r\nScintilla Charter School’s conditional use<\/a>,\r\nperhaps not coincidentally after local attorney Bill Langdale spoke for it.\r\nPlus a\r\n\r\nsidewalk<\/a>,\r\n\r\nstreetlights<\/a>, and other matters.\r\n
