The system was installed to help further the base as well as\nthe Air Forces&#8217; leading green energy initiatives. The solar thermal\ninstallation included 420 square feet of 20 TitanPowerPlus SU2\nseries flat plate collectors. The system was a drainback design with\na non-pressurized storage tank.\n<p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.intelligentgreensolutions.com\/military-solar-thermal-installation-moody-air-force-base\/\">\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\"   width=\"200\" height=\"60\" src=\"http:\/\/www.intelligentgreensolutions.com\/wp-content\/themes\/intelligentgreensolutions\/images\/igslogo.jpg\"><\/a>\nMoody Air Force Base is located near the city of Valdosta in\nSouthern Georgia, 30 miles from the Florida border. The base\noccupies nearly 12,000 acres of federally owned land. The solar\nthermal system was installed for a mess hall which serves 3 meals a\nday to the residents on the base. The system was completely\ninstalled and commissioned this month.\n<p>\n&#8220;Moody AFB, AKEA and Slone Associates, Inc are very pleased with the\nsystem configuration, installation and performance. The USAF leads the\nUS Government in green energy installations &mdash; with more than\n6% of their total energy usage across all facilities coming from\nrenewable and green energy sources.\n<\/blockquote>\nI found this while looking at the Industrial Authority&#8217;s\n<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/VLCIA\">twitter<\/a>\nand\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LowndesEconomicDevelopment\">facebook<\/a>\npages to see what else they might be doing\nsince they\n<a href=\"\/blog\/2012\/02\/industrial-authority-meeting-cancelled.html\">\ncancelled their February board meeting.<\/a>\nCuriously, the meeting cancellation does not seem to have been announced\neither of those ways.\nThey haven&#8217;t\n<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/VLCIA\">tweeted<\/a>\nsince November.\nOn their\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/LowndesEconomicDevelopment\">facebook<\/a>\npage they did announce the special called meeting of 27 January 2012.\nBut I see nothing about Tuesday&#8217;s regular meeting being cancelled.\n<p>\n-jsq\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Moody AFB helps USAF lead the military and the country in solar installations by adding solar thermal.
