{"id":10708,"date":"2014-09-29T06:24:02","date_gmt":"2014-09-29T10:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/?p=10708"},"modified":"2014-09-29T06:25:29","modified_gmt":"2014-09-29T10:25:29","slug":"hahira-honeybee-festival-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2014\/09\/hahira-honeybee-festival-2.html","title":{"rendered":"Hahira Honeybee Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\r\nOnce again time for the\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hahirahoneybeefestivalinc.com\/\">\r\nHahira Honeybee Festival<\/a>, 29 September through 4 October 2014.\r\nStarting this morning with the\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hahirahoneybeefestivalinc.com\/Schduleofevents.html\">\r\n&#8220;Kick-Off Breakfast   7-9 a.m.   Community Center- Randall St.   Everyone Welcome&#8221;<\/a>\r\n<p style=\"text-align:center;font-size:80%\">\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hahirahoneybeefestivalinc.com\/Schduleofevents.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none;\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hahirahoneybeefestivalinc.com\/images\/header.JPG\"><\/a>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\nThis festival is not run by the City of Hahira, rather by\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/cgov.sos.state.ga.us\/Account.aspx\/ViewEntityData?entityId=342917\">\r\nHahira Honeybee Festival, Inc.<\/a>,\r\nregistered agent Melba Locher of Shiloh Road,\r\nHelen Petitjean Secretary,\r\nMelba Locher CFO,\r\nCarol Jacobs CEO,\r\naccording to the Georgia Secretary of State.\r\n<p>\r\nAccording to the Festival&#8217;s\r\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hahirahoneybeefestivalinc.com\/History.html\">\r\nhistory page<\/a>:\r\n<blockquote style=\"font-size:100%\">\r\n<p>\r\nThe Hahira Honeybee Festival was st<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2011\/10\/hahira-honeybee-festival-8-october-2011.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6166\/6226884022_cf094a3835_m.jpg\"><\/a>arted in 1981 by Mamie Sorrell\r\nand Adeline Landrum. These two ladies loved Hahira and had a vision\r\n&#8220;to liven up city&#8221; with a weekend of Arts &#038; crafts , Entertainment,\r\nand a parade. The weekend festival has grown into a week long\r\nextravaganza. The festival is now known as one of the best in the\r\nSoutheast. The parade is touted as the best in South Georgia. It has\r\nbeen estimated that anywhere from 20,000 to<!--more--> 36,000 visitors come to\r\ntown for the parade and to walk the streets for arts &#038; crafts, and\r\nlots of food. The City supports the festival each year with city\r\nservices and employees. This year, 2010, will be our 29th annual\r\nfestival. The current members work to carry on the legacy of Mamime\r\nand Adeline, to have fun and keep the festival a family oriented<a href=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/2012\/10\/hahira-honeybee-breakfast-honeybee-2012-10-01.html\">\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"float:right;border:none\" src=\"http:\/\/www.l-a-k-e.org\/blog\/images\/6a0120a58214e4970b017d3c748bf0970c-pi.jpg\"><\/a>\r\nevent. The Honey Bee Festival Members, known as the &#8220;Busy Bees&#8221; meet\r\nevery month from March to September to plan the festival. The\r\nmeetings are held at the Hahira Courthouse every 3rd Tuesday of each\r\nmonth at 7pm.
