\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nAs a Commissioner said,\r\n\r\n“It don’t pass the smell test”<\/a>\r\nthat Sabal Trail already bought land for a compressor station\r\nbefore they even filed for a formal permit.\r\nA Commissioner said\r\n\r\n“We have to be more aggressive.”<\/a>\r\nWell, then, time to\r\n\r\npass a land-user ordinance against pipelines!<\/a>\r\nThanks to Jennifer Maloney, you can see for yourself Albany and\r\nDougherty County citizens and Commissioners\r\nopposing the Sabal Trail fracked methane pipeline\r\nin\r\n\r\na community effort<\/a>\r\nat a Dougherty County Commission meeting 15 September 2014.\r\n

\r\nLowndes County citizens, do you see any difference in the way\r\nthe Dougherty County Commission operates, sitting around a table\r\ndiscussing directly with citizens, vs. the Lowndes County Commission\r\nsitting on its podium at work sessions, not letting citizens speak?\r\n

\r\n\r\n<\/a>\r\nDougherty County citizens, you do realize\r\nthese alternative routes\r\nyou’re talking about all go through somebody else’s populated areas\r\nand wetlands, 4 out of 5 routes in Georgia through Lowndes County,\r\nand 3 out of 5 through Tifton and Valdosta?\r\nAnd I’m glad somebody brought up that\r\n\r\nwetlands and farmlands are not appropriate places for that pipeline<\/a>, either.\r\nIf you want to get more aggressive, how about abandon just NIMBY\r\nand step up to opposing this pipeline entirely?\r\nWe need not just a per-county or even a per-state effort.\r\nWe need a tri-state (AL,GA,FL) and national opposition to private companies gouging pipelines through other people’s fields, forests, and cities for LNG export<\/a> profit.\r\n
